Sassy's Story

Sweet Sassy is a loving girl who is ready to be someone's princess. Adorably fuzzy, pleasantly plump and with a subtle underbite that only adds to her cuteness, Sassy is ready to put on the charm. She loves to cuddle up on the couch and snuggle with (or on top) of her people. When left to her own devices, you might just find her propped up on a pillow, watching TV.

During an extended sleepover, Sassy has shown great manners. She was pretty frustrated at the kennel but it's clear that she is familiar with home life - and surely has been missing it! She is housebroken and does well in her crate, though she also likes taking naps with her person. She has been quiet so far and has not attempted to chew anything. She was also tolerant of a bath, and now is looking nice a shiny! Every now and then Sassy can start off a bit shy, but she's quick to warm up and turn on the snuggles. With other dogs in play group, Sassy has been gently social.

Sassy is ready to find a comfy, loving home of her own. She is an affectionate and easy addition to have around the house. She is estimated to be around 3 years old and weighs 59 lbs. You must schedule a meet with a dog in advance - we are not currently accepting walk-ins. Please look online first to see if there are any dogs you think would be a good fit for your home before scheduling a meet. To get the process started, visit www.tinyurl.com/meetacitydog and fill out the form. One of our adoption counselors will get in touch to schedule and confirm your meet! At the kennel, an adoption counselor will introduce you and your family to the adoptable dogs, share information we know about them, and discuss our suggested ways for successfully integrating a new dog into your home. You are welcome to meet multiple dogs. If the dog you adopt is already fixed, he or she may leave with you that day - otherwise, the dog can go home after receiving the spay or neuter surgery.)

About Our Dogs: All available dogs have gone through a behavioral and medical assessment. This assessment is a snapshot of who the dog is at that given time. We cannot make any guarantees with regard to behavior, temperament or health of any City Dog once they are in the home. Most of our dogs are picked up as strays, so we do not know what kind of home environment they were living in (i.e. with kids, other dogs or other cats), nor do we know if most of them are house trained. Everything we know about them is based on volunteer and staff observations. We do have some dogs in foster homes, where they will have more information about how the dog is in a home environment. It is very hard to tell with certainty whether or not a dog will be good with kids, cats or another dog. If you have kids in the home or another dog, we do require that they be present for a meet and greet with the dog you are considering for adoption.

Heath/Vaccinations: Dogs that are adopted directly from the kennel need to go to your personal vet within two weeks of leaving the kennel. All dogs receive their DAPPL, Rabies, and Bordatella vaccines, though you may be required to get follow up boosters. All dogs come microchipped and with a Cuyahoga County license.
