Sasha's Story

Meet Sasha!

DOB: 12/30/2025
Breed: German Shepherd

Sasha is a beautiful 5-month-old German Shepherd puppy (both parents were German Shepherd) from Detroit who is learning that the world can be a safe and fun place. While she may be a little shy at first, beneath that cautious exterior is an incredibly sweet, playful, and loving girl just waiting to bond deeply with her people. Once you earn her trust, Sasha quickly becomes a total velcro dog who wants nothing more than to be by your side.

Sasha can be initially shy and unsure in new situations. She's still learning that new people, sounds, and experiences can be safe — and even fun. With a little patience and encouragement, her sweet personality really begins to shine. Once she feels comfortable, Sasha is incredibly gentle, affectionate, and eager to connect.

Sasha has made wonderful progress in foster care and continues to gain confidence every day. She can still be hesitant when meeting new people or experiencing unfamiliar environments, so she will need a patient family that understands the importance of allowing her to adjust at her own pace. A calm demeanor, positive reinforcement, and a handful of kibble go a long way with this smart girl. She is eager to please and responds beautifully to gentle guidance and encouragement.

Sasha is currently working on building her confidence, as well as learning basic puppy skills. She will need a dedicated family committed to continuing her training and socialization in a positive, structured way. A calm, patient home will be key in helping her grow into a confident, well-adjusted adult.

Having another confident and stable dog in the home will be extremely important for Sasha. She takes a great deal of comfort in following the lead of other dogs, especially when it comes to trusting new people and exploring new situations. She enjoys playful interactions with canine companions and would do best with a dog that doesn't mind some typical shepherd puppy antics and goofy teenage energy.

And speaking of goofy teenage energy — Sasha is officially entering her lanky, awkward, adorable shepherd phase and it is impossible not to fall in love with her. She loves chasing balls, splashing in the pool, exploring trails and parks on a long line, and chewing on bully sticks for hours. She is learning to walk nicely on a leash and is picking up new skills quickly with positive reinforcement. In true German Shepherd fashion, Sasha is intelligent, observant, and eager to connect with her person, making her a puppy with tons of potential for continued training and adventures.

Sasha does very well in her crate, although she may briefly protest before settling down. She loves cozy naps on a dog bed and is always excited for mealtime. Car rides are still a work in progress, but once she arrives at her destination she is ready to explore. Interestingly, aside from being unsure about people, Sasha is otherwise incredibly brave. Loud noises do not bother her, she will leap into rushing rivers without hesitation, and she happily investigates tight spaces and new surroundings. She is going to make an amazing adventure companion for the right family.

Sasha would do best in an adult-only home or one with older dog-savvy children who understand how to respectfully interact with a shy puppy. She is also seeking a home with a physical fenced yard, and this is a MUST to help her settle into a new environment because she may very well enter into the flight mode when scared.

Sasha is looking for more than just a home — she's looking for someone willing to invest the time, love, and patience it takes to help her blossom. In return, you'll gain a deeply loyal companion who will form an incredible bond with her person.

Grab a handful of puppy kibble and a ball and come meet sweet Sasha girl!

Sasha is:
Current on Bordetella, Distemper, and Rabies
Dewormed
Heartworm Tested: Negative
Receiving Heartworm and Flea Prevention
Microchipped
Scheduled for spay surgery at our partner Veterinary office at 6 months of age.

ADOPTION FEE: $375

IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN THIS PET, PLEASE COMPLETE THE APPROPRIATE APPLICATION FOUND ON OUR WEBSITE HTTP://FUREVERTAILS.COM. Unfortunately, at this time we are not currently adopting outside of the state of MI. We process applications ONLY - there is no guarantee that you will get a response to an inquiry.

Many of the animals in our foster program come to us with limited or unknown histories. We make every effort to evaluate each animal's temperament and behavior, including testing their interactions with other dogs, cats, and children (defined as individuals under the age of 18, when available). However, every animal is unique—just as every child and household environment is different.

While we strive to set both our foster animals and adoptive families up for success through thorough assessments and transparent communication, **we cannot guarantee any specific behavioral outcome**. Animals can be unpredictable by nature, and behavior may change in new environments or over time. By proceeding with adoption or foster placement, applicants acknowledge and accept this inherent risk and agree that no guarantees, either expressed or implied, are made regarding the temperament or behavior of any animal placed through our program.

FUREVER TAILS IS A NON-PROFIT, NO-KILL, FOSTER HOME BASED ANIMAL RESCUE BASED OUT OF OAKLAND TOWNSHIP, MI. OUR FOSTER ANIMALS ARE LIVING IN FOSTER HOMES AND TREATED LIKE FAMILY UNTIL THEY FIND THEIR OWN FUREVER FAMILIES. OUR ADOPTION PROECESS REQUIRES AN APPLICATION TO BE COMPLETED AND APPROVED BEFORE A MEET-N-GREET WITH THE ANIMAL CAN TAKE PLACE. ADOPTION FEES ARE NECESSARY TO HELP US COVER VETTING COSTS FOR OUR RESCUED ANIMALS.
