Sasha (25-080)'s Story

ON HOLD - TRANSFERRING TO NEW FOSTER

Introducing Sasha!

Affectionate Energetic Snuggly Smart

I'm an affectionate, playful, and intelligent Great Dane with two speeds—either zooming around the yard like I'm the fastest dog alive, or curled up like a cozy couch potato. I form very strong bonds with my chosen person and I do best with calm, patient handling. Once I pick my person, I'm all in.

I need slow introductions because I can be unsure of new people, especially men. I generally prefer women and I tend to attach myself to one person, following them around like their shadow. I do well with children and currently live with kids ages 6 to 14, but I may forget my size during high-energy play. My foster family has noticed that I seem protective of younger children.

I enjoy other dogs and I'm usually submissive and playful with large breeds, though I've shown some uncertainty around small dogs in busy environments like the vet. I previously lived with cats and a medium-sized dog. Currently, I have befriended the senior Dane in my foster home and completely ignore the backyard chickens.

Likes:

Snuggling and being close to my favorite person
Playing with other dogs
Treats
Having the windows open during car rides
Zoomies in the yard

Dislikes:

Unsure of men
Sudden movements
Being confined to a room alone

I'm not crate trained, but I do well with supervised free roam as long as plastic items are kept out of my reach. I'm housebroken, though I may pee when I'm scared or overly excited. I know sit, down, come, out, and paw, and I'm learning stay. I'll need continued leash training in my forever home. I respond best to positive, calm reinforcement—I am exceptionally smart, very food-motivated, and I learn quickly once I trust my people.

While I am in good health overall, I sometimes get a mass on my legs. This has been successfully managed by my vet but will need to be monitored in my forever home.

Forever Home Wishlist:

A physical fence is recommended (I am extremely fast and love to run)
A yard where I can stretch my legs and play
A family that is gone 4 hours or less during the day
A home willing to give slow, patient introductions
An apartment is not an ideal environment for me
Other resident dogs should be at least medium-sized
Will need continued training for stay and leash manners
A family committed to ensuring I see the vet for any new masses on my legs

Fun Fact: I'm an escape-room level genius—I can open doors, pocket doors, and even a latched baby gate! With my door-opening skills and my world-class zoomies, I basically treat life like my own personal adventure course.

If you think Sasha will be a great addition to your family, please reach out to us by following one of the options below.

1.
