Sasha's Story
Sasha is very well trained, polite, and very smart. He was training to be a service dog but unfortunately, he was removed from the program after investing a year into it, because he killed a little dog. He is not dog aggressive at all. He isn't even small dog aggressive or food aggressive but he was put in a strange situation without his handler, was staying with a pet sitter, and the chi came near him when he was minding his own business chewing a bone on his bed & he snapped at the dog and immediately released but it was enough to kill him. It's a sad situation but we feel it was an isolated event. Sasha lived with two smaller dogs, one was a basset hound and can't recall the other breed of the 2nd dog, but he showed no aggression towards them at all. While in the service dog training program if a dog growls for any reason they are excused from the program. They will not take the time to address any behavior problems like that. So he was pretty perfect until this event. He was 1 year old when he started the program. He is 2 years old now. He knows all basic commands as well as a few tricks. If you tell him to go under he will squeeze his big body under anything he can fit under. He rode the bus a lot with his handler and had to go under the seat and lay down during the ride. Or if he was at a restaurant he needed to go under the table and lay down.<br/>Sasha is a wonderful boy who has a lot to give. He would make an amazing emotional support dog and already has the training for that. He also has certified hips and can be used for stability so that he could do mobility work. He was learning how to detect seizures when he left the program. He won't be up for adoption for very long I'm sure. Sasha looks all Rottweiler to us but his records commented that he may have some Labrador mixed in there somewhere. Not sure if that was someone's guess or if that has been proven.
