Sara's Story

Sara may only weigh 24 lbs, but her personality is larger than life. Equal parts silly, sweet, and occasionally just a tiny bit extra (in the best possible way, of course), Sara believes every person she meets is a potential new best friend. She adores attention, thrives on affection, and would love to be included in basically everything her humans or dog friends are doing. Whether it’s playtime, cuddle time, errands, or absolutely nothing at all, Sara is simply happiest being part of the moment with her people.

She loves playing with other dogs, gets excited to make new friends, and has a very enthusiastic “OMG HI!” approach to life. Because of that, Sara is still learning that not everyone wants to be greeted with quite so much excitement, so she needs a family that will help her continue practicing calmer greetings and respecting personal space.

But underneath all the playful energy, Sara also knows how to slow down and cuddle. She is incredibly affectionate and happiest curled up close to her people soaking up love and attention.

Sara was found wandering as a stray in Long Beach in March 2026 and was later diagnosed with a salivary mucocele, a condition that required specialty corrective surgery. Thanks to sponsorship from the amazing 15/10 Foundation, we were able to bring her into rescue so she could receive the medical care she needed. She has since made a full recovery and is now ready for her next chapter.

The shelter originally estimated Sara to be around 3 years old, but based on additional testing with our veterinarian, we believe she is likely closer to 1.5 years old... which honestly explains a lot about her joyful little sprite energy.

Sara is house and crate trained, about 90% polished on leash, and absolutely loves car rides. She’s goofy, affectionate, and full of love... the kind of dog who makes ordinary days feel a little happier just by being herself. Smiles are guaranteed around this little one.

K9 Kismet Dog Rescue's Adoption Policy
Looking to add a new member to your family and think one of our dogs might be a good fit? Here’s the K9 Kismet’s adoption process: 1. Submit Application: There are no trick questions, so please be open and honest in your responses. 2. Phone Interview: Someone from our team will reach out via email or phone to schedule a call. 3. Meet-and-Greet: We keep our numbers low with the intent of knowing all our dogs well. If the dog you’re interested in will likely be a good fit for you and your household, we’ll reach out to the foster to schedule a time to meet. If not, we may have suggestions for other dogs in the rescue. Consider us matchmakers in this process. Feel free to request multiple meet-and-greets; depending on the situation, it may even be encouraged. This is a lifelong commitment and our ultimate goal is to make matches that are ideal for both the dog and their new family. 4. Home Check: Please be prepared to open your home to a representative from our rescue. A home visit allows us the opportunity to ensure the dog will be safe and secure. It’s also a great time for adopters to ask additional questions before finalizing an adoption. We’ll schedule a date and time that is convenient for you. 5. Sign Adoption Contract: This document will be shared in advance and is a necessary piece in the transfer of ownership. 6. Pay the Adoption Fee: We are a 501(c)(3) registered non-profit organization, so the donation you make is tax deductible. All of the dogs in our care receive regular wellness exams, preventative treatment, and specialty care as needed. All are fully vaccinated, spayed/neutered (unless medically waived), and microchipped. For the vast majority of the dogs we pull into rescue, the adoption fee covers a fraction of the cost that went into rehabilitating the dog. Your tax-deductible adoption fee will help replenish funds needed to help another dog in need of rescue.
