Sappho's Story
Sappho is a young but extremely shy and shutdown Pyr that was even more shutdown when she first came to us in August. We have since learned that dogs will really help her open up to humans so she needs to have a dog buddy in the home. She loves a good play session with littles and bigs, and seems to be a very gentle player who plays to the level of the dog she is with. She is starting to open up to humans more and we feel like that as long as a new adopter is extremely patient with her and just meets her where she is that she could now find her forever home. She does still need to be spayed so we will be getting that done asap. She does continue to be timid on a leash and going new places so it took us about 6 weeks to even get her to the vet for her initial visit but she really did extremely well but we are glad we waited! She does like to follow you around and you will know she is warming up to you when you are sitting quiet somewhere and you feel her giant head behind you sniffing your hair-its very sweet! She is way more open and playful with dogs though and seems to love them!
