Meet Santa, a handsome 5-year-old Doberman with a gentle heart and an easygoing personality. Formerly known as Otis, Santa was once adopted through DRM and has found his way back to us after his previous owner was no longer able to care for him. While we're saddened by the circumstances, we're grateful he has returned to the loving arms of DRM—a reminder that every dog we rescue will always have a place with us, no matter how much time has passed.<br/><br/>Santa is a well-mannered, affectionate boy who settles into home life with ease. He previously underwent surgery to remove an intestinal obstruction, so he has a slightly sensitive digestive system. He does best on a high-quality, easily digestible diet with smaller meals throughout the day, along with natural treats to keep his tummy happy.<br/><br/>He has been doing wonderfully with his house training and hasn't had any accidents in foster care. Santa even lets his foster family know when he needs to go outside! He's polite at mealtime, relaxes quietly in his crate during the day, and especially enjoys starting each morning with a few extra snuggles.<br/><br/>Santa is a true social butterfly who loves meeting new people. He has done well with both adults and children, including younger kids in his previous home and older children in his foster home. He also enjoys the company of other dogs and loves to wrestle, run, and play tug-of-war with his canine friends.<br/><br/>His behavior around cats has been friendly and curious. Rather than showing prey drive or aggression, he's simply interested in getting to know them and has been described as a bit "flirtatious" with his feline foster sibling.<br/><br/>When playtime is over, Santa transforms into the ultimate cuddle bug. He loves being close to his people and is happiest curled up nearby. Tennis balls are one of his favorite toys, and while he's still figuring out the game of fetch, his enthusiasm more than makes up for it. He also rides well in the car, settling down comfortably after a few welcome pets.<br/><br/>Santa is a smart boy who already knows sit and is making excellent progress with down, wait, and leave it. He can even balance a treat on his nose! Because he's a strong, enthusiastic walker, he'll benefit from continued leash training and a training collar. His recall is still a work in progress, so a securely fenced yard is recommended where he can safely stretch his legs and explore.<br/><br/>Santa is the complete package—kind, affectionate, playful, and eager to please. Our foster families are generally located within a 250 mile radius of Minneapolis, MN.<br/><br/>All DRM dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, health checked, microchipped, 4DX tested, and on monthly flea/tick and heartworm prevention.
