Sandy (26-033 D)'s Story
Hi! I am Sandy and ready to be your soulmate! I am an active girl who is happiest having full body contact when hanging out with the people I love!

I have been getting lots of new experiences in my foster home, which were overwhelming at first but now that I have been there a few weeks, I am doing great. I used to worry about flags, horns, dogs barking, kids running, people with hoods on- but walking every day made me realize those aren't anything to worry about so now I don't even pay attention! If I encounter a worrisome situation, my mom tells me I am being brave, I keep going! I sometimes get so excited that I have a hard time controling my body and jump or play rough, so little kids might find me too energetic. I am learning how to properly handle all my excitement! I'm 100% housebroken and crate trained. I live with cats that won't let me get too close (even though 1 cat really enjoys teasing me). I go on long walks everyday and really like running up to 5 miles with my mom (then take a very long nap) so will make someone a great jogging partner! At first I didn't like to get my feet wet at the beach, but I tried it again after a long walk and it was very refreshing. I love my toys and treats. Everyday we practice sit, stay/wait, off, leave it, down, heel and come as well as practicing nice walking manners and I am a star student. I am starting to love training time! I didn't come trained, but I have nice manners and do not beg for food, tear things up in the house or be too pushy about my need for affection.

I am working on boosting my confidence, because I can be timid in new situations. I like new people, but sometimes it takes me a few minutes to warm up. I LOOOVVEEE my people with my whole heart!

I am super excited to not be stuck in an abandoned house in Flint in winter with my babies anymore!!! I came from a situation with a lot of other dogs and cats of different sizes and ages, so I can get along well with others. I haven't met any new dogs in a few weeks because I bring way to much energy to the encounter. We are practicing the behavior my mom wants to see so that I will make a well mannered companion! I weigh about 50 lbs but am trying to gain a little more!
