They say best friends come with the passing of time... and I believe it to be my case. <br/><br/>Hi, I'm Sandy! I'm a 13-year-old doggy! I'm a big girl, literally. I currently am the veteran of the adoption program at 13 years old! That is also how long I've been in the program waiting for my forever home. <br/><br/>I was just a pup when my then family got rid of me. Luckily, someone found out what was going to happen to me and took me in, in hopes of finding a family that truly loved me, and since then, we are still hopeful!<br/><br/>I'm a calm, docile, and affectionate girl! I can be a bit shy when meeting new people, but I just need time for me to feel comfortable. <br/><br/>It would be ideal if I were to be the only pet in the home. I get along well with the dogs I have grown up with, but not with new dogs, since I was once attacked by one, and actually fractured my jaw! And with cats...I just can't seem to get along at all. <br/><br/>I still hope to spend my golden years with a family that loves me as much as I will love them!

Gente Por Los Animales's Adoption Policy
Once the adopter's information is submitted – name, phone number, address, email, and the name of the animal they wish to adopt – a volunteer from the organization will contact them within the next three business days, either electronically or by phone, to conduct an interview via video call in order to verify that the requirements are met and to complete the adoption form. If the application is approved, we will schedule the delivery of the dog or cat to begin their two-week trial period, allowing the adopting family to spend time with the animal and decide if they want to adopt them permanently. All animals are delivered dewormed, vaccinated, and sterilized. A recovery fee of 20 USD per animal is requested for delivery in Mexicali, Baja California. We can also cross the border to El Centro, Calexico, Heber, or Yuma, but in this case, it is necessary to place a microchip in the dogs, which incurs an additional cost of 25 USD. Eventually, we can transport the animals to San Diego or Los Angeles, but a 40 USD transportation fee is requested.
