Samson's Story

Samson

This handsome boy is around 6-7 years old and came to us from a rural shelter partner in upstate South Carolina alongside his brother (many of you saw our recent posts about Tucker when he got loose - thankfully he's safe ).

Without going into every detail, their story is incredibly heartbreaking. They were surrendered by a family who loved them to someone they believed was a legitimate rescue. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. Once it was discovered they were neutered and couldn't be bred, they were going to be dumped at a shelter that was already completely full. When staff members went out to the property, they found them living in dirt pens - very thin, covered in sores, clearly neglected, and forced to live outside after having spent their entire lives indoors. It was devastating to see.

We were able to say yes and get them out.

From the day Samson arrived, he went straight into a foster home and has been thriving. He is truly the sweetest boy. He can be a little nervous at first, but he wants so badly to trust - and once he feels safe, he absolutely melts into you. He loves other dogs, does amazing with cats, and in true Dane fashion, he just wants to be near his people. The gentle touch of a human is his favorite thing in the world.

Samson is what we call a unicorn - calm, kind, soulful, and so deserving. He's ready to find a forever family who will spoil him rotten, let him live inside where he belongs, and show him every single day how deeply he is loved.

After everything he's been through, it's finally his turn.
