Sampson's Story

Breed: Pit Bull Mix

Age: Approx 2 years old

Favorite Things: Sampson is a happy dog who loves to play with toys and likes to play fetch (he mostly returns with the ball). He enjoys adventures out of the house, including stops at local breweries!

Crate/House Trained: Yes. Initially, Sampson demonstrated some anxiety when being left in the crate. He even found ways to break out of crates. He has adjusted to staying in the crate now and loves a treat-filled kong as a distraction. Lots of exercise outside of the crate is key!

Training: Sampson is treat-motivated and loves to show off his “sit.” He is working on more advanced commands and would benefit from additional leash and recall training.

Medical Notes: Sampson is up to date on shots, neutered, microchipped and on monthly heartworm and flea prevention. Sampson was found in Greensboro with a broken back leg. He underwent surgery to repair the leg and underwent surgery to remove the surgical pins. Post-surgery Sampson is able to jump again and is an active and playful dog.

Foster Notes: He does well with other dogs and has been around older children in foster care. Due to his exuberance, he would likely be better paired with a larger dog and older children or as a single dog. He is working on not jumping to greet but he’s just so excited to meet a new friend!

If you are interested in giving Sampson the loving home he deserves, please fill out an application at the link below to get the ball rolling on a meet and greet.

https://form.jotform.com/202046006590041

If this link doesn't open by clicking on it, just copy and paste it into a new browser.

Adopters must live within a 45 mile radius of Winston-Salem. If you see a dog or puppy on our website and would like to start the process of saving a rescued animal – please email steppingstonesrescue@gmail.com and request an application. The application will be processed by an adoption counselor. We will make contact with you to answer any questions you may have and review your application. Incomplete applications will not be considered, as the information you give us on your application is essential in determining the compatibility of the dog you have requested with your life-style. At this time, we will also conduct a vet reference to determine the health of your past and current animals. ALL potential adoptive families must have up-to-date veterinary records on all pets currently residing in the home. We believe for health and temperament reasons that it is in the best interest of the dog to be spayed or neutered
