Sammy's Story
AN INQUIRY FROM PETFINDER IS NOT AN APPLICATION! READ THE ENTIRE POST FOR INFORMATION HOW TO APPLY.

Meet Sammy! Sammy is a 7 month old male poodle and he weighs about 4 pounds. Sammy is still growing, so he could still gain a few pounds. Sammy arrived in rescue when his previous family could no longer care for him. His previous family did not realize he had vision issues and that explained a lot of the issues they were having. Sammy is blind and would love a family that has experience with vision challenged pups to call his own. He has settled into his foster home but he would love a forever family to call his own. His foster mom says: Sammy is very sweet and is an expert cuddler. He also loves to play (he's a puppy!) and will keep you busy! As he is blind, Sammy will require a household able to provide him stable and safe space. A family experienced with blind dogs would be amazing. In addition due to his size and condition, his new family would not have children under 12 years old. Besides being blind, Sammy has bilateral luxating patellas. Because if his age, surgical correction is neither recommended or required at this time. However, his adopter would need to be aware that depending on how he grows and adapts, it could be necessary in the future.
Sammy is 80% potty trained. He does not need to go out overnight. During the day, he goes out on a leash to potty every few hours. As far as walking on a leash, he is still a puppy and a "work in progress" in that department. He does better when he goes out using his harness (rather than a collar) and a leash. He would probably benefit from some formal leash/behavior training. All-in-all, he's a great pup. He compensates well for his visual disability using his other senses. He is very sweet, and friendly with cats and other small dogs.

Sammy is neutered, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative and microchipped.

Sammy is fostered in the Orlando area and his adoption donation is $450. If you aer interested in applying to adopt Sammy, please visit www.floridalittledogrescue.com to read the adoption process and complete an application! Please note that emails simply asking "Is this dog available" will not be returned, as applications are worked in the order received and availability largely depends on when you apply:) Please also know we do not adopt out of state! Thank you!
