Meet Sammy! <br/><br/>Sammy is the sweetest, friendliest boy around - he has never met a stranger! His absolute favorite thing is meeting new people. He'll happily sit for pets, lean in for scratches, and if you hit just the right spot, you'll be rewarded with the sweetest little grumbles. And don't be surprised if Sammy sneaks in a kiss or two!<br/><br/>This big-hearted boy loves people of all kinds. This definitely includes children, but given that Sammy can get excited and may jump up to say hello, he would do best with those that are comfortable with large dogs and/or are willing to help him with his manners.<br/><br/>One of Sammy's best qualities is that he is incredibly easy to care for. He is house trained and crate trained, can hold his bladder for many hours, and is happy to settle in and relax when his people are busy. He would be a wonderful match for a first-time dog parent or an experienced dog owner looking for an easygoing companion. He's the kind of dog who doesn't need a complicated routine - give him some love, a comfy couch, a few good walks, and a family to call his own, and he's happy.<br/><br/>And speaking of the couch... Sammy is a professional snuggler. He LOVES cuddling and is happiest when he can relax right next to his people.<br/><br/>On walks, Sammy does pretty well on leash. He may pull when something particularly interesting catches his attention (there are just so many cool places to explore!), but he is very food motivated, eager to please, and responds wonderfully to training. He is improving every day and loves having a job to do. Sammy enjoys chewing on bones, but he isn't particularly interested in most toys and has shown little interest in chewing on household objects - a definite bonus!<br/><br/>Before coming into foster care, Sammy had some tough experiences with other dogs, and his survivor scars on his face are a reminder of what he's been through. Because of this, he is still learning how to feel confident and comfortable around canine friends. He can get very excited when he sees another dog and sometimes isn't quite sure what to do with all those feelings! With slow introductions, patience, and positive training, however, Sammy has done well with other dogs. While in foster care, he has done very well walking through a neighborhood filled with dogs.
