SAM's Story

Sam is a distinguished older gentleman with the kind of soulful face that makes people immediately want to sit beside him and tell him he is a very good boy. Despite his age and some obvious stiffness, Sam has continued to greet people with loose tail wags, accept pets and handling easily, and keep up a surprisingly chatty running commentary from his kennel. He sounds like the sort of dog who still wants to be included in daily life, even if he would now prefer his adventures to include softer beds, slower strolls, and a few extra snack breaks along the way.

Sam does have some age-related medical concerns, including signs of an old back injury, stiffness in his gait, and significant dental wear that will likely require ongoing management and comfort-focused care. Even so, he has remained cooperative, affectionate, and engaged with the people around him. Senior dogs like Sam have a special kind of companionship to offer. They are often calmer, deeply appreciative of comfort and kindness, and incredibly rewarding to bond with. Sam deserves a home where he can spend his golden years feeling safe, loved, and finally able to relax into the slower pace he has earned.

All adoptions include support from our adoption team to ensure a smooth transition from the shelter to your home. Adopted pets are vaccinated, microchipped, and spayed/neutered before leaving the shelter's care.
