SAM's Story

WATCH MY VIDEO...Some dogs arrive with a long history. Others, like Sam, arrive with a blank slate.

This handsome 6-year-old Black Lab mix came to us from another shelter, so we don't know much about where he's been or what his life was like before. What we do know is that whoever adopts Sam is getting an absolutely wonderful dog.

Since arriving at our shelter, Sam has become a favorite among staff and volunteers. Friendly, affectionate, and always ready to make new friends, Sam loves being around people. He soaks up pets, leans in for scratches, and is especially fond of a good butt scratch.

Once outside, Sam's playful personality really shines. He loves interactive play, enjoys toys, and happily joins in on whatever fun is happening. He's a smart boy, too. Sam already knows sit, paw, and down, and he's even working on learning roll over. His love of treats makes training both easy and enjoyable, and he seems to be a fast learner who genuinely enjoys engaging with his people. He will need some leash training, and since he does get very excited when outside, he will do best in a home where there are no small children.

Sam appears to be housetrained and comes when called. Most of all, he loves spending time with people and being part of the action. Whether he's showing off his tricks, chasing a toy, or simply enjoying some affection, Sam approaches life with a happy, fun-loving spirit.

At six years old, Sam is the perfect combination of playful and mature. He still has plenty of energy for adventures and games, but he's also old enough to appreciate the simple joys of companionship.

His past may be a mystery, but Sam's future is easy to imagine: a loving home, a family to adore, plenty of treats, and lots of belly rubs and butt scratches. If you're looking for a smart, affectionate, and joyful companion, Sam may be the perfect dog for you.

Come meet Sam. You'll quickly see why everyone here thinks he's such a special guy.
