Sam's Story
You would be hard-pressed to find a nicer Labrador Retriever than Sam. When people say a Lab is their breed of choice, Sam is exactly what they have in mind—big, blocky head, gentle eyes, and built like a tank. He truly embodies everything we love about this wonderful breed.

But… there’s always a “but,” isn’t there?

Sam struggles with significant allergies. He was surrendered by his family when they no longer had the time to care for him, and unfortunately, his allergies went untreated for quite some time. As a result, Sam developed chronic ear infections, skin issues, and relentless itchiness. Whether his allergies are environmental or food-related is still being determined, and because they were left unmanaged for so long, finding the right solution will take time.

Thankfully, one of our dedicated foster moms stepped in, and Sam is already feeling much better. With frequent baths, a specialized diet, regular veterinary care, and lots of attention, he’s finally on the road to healing. His ears, once in very rough shape, are improving thanks to consistent care and diligence.

Going forward, Sam will need a committed home willing to continue his treatment—this may include a special diet, regular ear cleaning, and ongoing monitoring. He’s also quite the charmer when it comes to food, so his future family will need to resist those soulful eyes at the dinner table. Often, what Sam really wants isn’t a treat, but a good scratch and some affection.

Sam enjoys leisurely walks and is learning good leash manners with the help of a gentle leader—no worries about being pulled off your feet. He has a playful side too and will happily bring you a toy for a game of tug. While he gets along with other dogs, it’s clear that his person will always hold the top spot in his heart.

Sam still has a journey ahead, but for the right person, sharing life with this remarkable dog will be more than worth the effort. His gratitude, loyalty, and love will shine through every single day. And he is so worth it!

BREED
Labrador Retriever
GENDER
Male
AGE
8 years
SIZE
Large (83 lbs)
CHILDREN
8+
DOG FRIENDLY
Yes
CAT FRIENDLY
No
ENERGY LEVEL
Medium
GROOMING LEVEL

TO APPLY FOR ADOPTION OF THIS DOG, PLEASE VISIT OUR WEB SITE: www.animatch.ca AND FILL THE APPLICATION ON LINE.
*** calls and e-mails will not be answered ***
