Sam's Story

My name is Sam and I weigh 18#. I came into rescue after being found as a stray. I am a very nice boy and I have a lot of energy, so my new family will need to be active or have a way to keep me busy. I am very smart and would make a good dog for training - either just obedience or agility, tricks, scent work, etc. I get bored easily and I will find things to keep myself busy such as climbing on top of things and chewing anything I find.

Please don't worry if I scream - it is a Shiba thing :). I am capable of climbing as high as 5' so I will need to be walked or never be in a fenced area unattended. If I see something that I like more than a human, I can scale a fence in about 15 seconds. I absolutely LOVE to run and chase other dogs my size, so I do require another dog or 2 under 40# that love to run as well. When I am not chasing my foster dog companions, I love to sniff and explore.

My foster family don't think I was around humans too much and I for sure was never taught anything. I am working very hard on my house training but do still need to wear a belly band when not attended. I have mastered crate training (which is a must for my safety when nobody can be watching me) but will likely regress to barking and screaming for a day or 2 in my new home. If my new family sticks it out, I will then be quiet in a crate. Because of my energy level, kids - both resident and visiting will need to be 15 or older.

I am neutered, heartworm and tick borne disease negative, and up to date on vaccines and preventatives. If you think I would make a fun addition to your family, please email angelpawspet2023@gmail.com to request an application. My adoption donation is $350.
