My name is Sally "Racecar". I came to the shelter as a stray. I am 2-3 years old and weigh approximately 48 pounds. If you are interested in adopting me please come to the shelter and get to know me.<br/><br/>If you are interested in this animal and are not from the county please read the ADOPTING A PET section on the front page. Animals must be altered before leaving the local area at your expense. NO EXCEPTIONS! Most vets prefer not to do surgery on animals under 4 months of age.<br/><br/>We are located off Route 11 in Edinburg on Landfill Road, next to the flea market. Our hours of operation are Monday thru Friday from 10 AM to 4 PM and Saturdays from 10 AM to 2 PM. We are closed Sundays and all Holidays.

Shenandoah County Animal Shelter's Adoption Policy

Individuals wishing to adopt an animal from our shelter must complete a screening form. After the form is processed, there is a $15.00 adoption fee for cats, $25.00 for dogs, plus a $25.00 charge for cats and $35.00 for dogs, for spaying or neutering. It is required by Virginia State Law and the Shenandoah County Ordinance that all animals adopted from the shelter be spayed or neutered. A special voucher will be given to the “adoptee” for the amount of deposit. The voucher can then be applied toward the cost of spaying and neutering at participating veterinarian offices.
