Sakari's Story

Sakari was living with a woman who struggled, greatly, in caring for Sakari and herself, well. Even through all of her uncertain living conditions, Sakari managed to come through confident, loving and kind. As Sakari settled into her foster home, it became obvious that she was/is the perfect, lazy family dog.
.
Sakari is up to date on all vetting and preventatives. She is “potty” trained and walks well on a leash. She rides in the car beautifully and is calm & respectful at the vet. She eats well. She has no prey drive and no guarding issues, at all. She does well with kids, dogs and cats. She is neutral in her position within a pack.
.
She is an 8yr old Great Pyrenees and with that comes some breed averages. She does bark, often. However, it’s a whisper bark. We haven’t seen a lot of shedding that is typical for the breed, but her body condition is still recovering. I am sure that will come. Even though she enjoys walking, she also enjoys snuggling her days away. She does well at the groomer and will require regular grooming sessions. She does NOT do well with thunder. We think that because of her living situation, prior to fostering with us, she endured some seriously scary storms outside. She experiences anxiety when it’s thundering, but does well with medication to help her calm.
.
Sakari is currently looking for any size family, with or without children, who will love her furever. Even though she is a working breed, she is expected to be a boujie family dog. She has started to figure out that she’s allowed to play with our dogs and really enjoys being a part of everything.

An adoption fee of $250 includes vaccinations, spay/neuter, microchip, flea and heartworm preventatives if appropriate, and all necessary medical costs while in our care.

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please email Familyadditiondogrescue@gmail.com to request an application. **We typically respond within a few hours.
