Sadie, born January 24, 2020's Story
Sadie did not have the upbringing that allowed her to be used to the day to day things most pets are used to

Fostered in London

She is fostered with 2 other retired breeding dogs of the same origin, Daisy and Sandy, and they do so well with other dogs to cuddle with and even cats

They absolutely are not for rv or camping or cottage fans due to their flight risk

They do very well going outside on leash in to their fenced yard

They are crate trained

Sadie, a shih tzu mix, is still extremely nervous of strangers and some every day things yet, but adores snuggling with other dogs and cats, born Jan 24/2020, and came in July 5/2023

She does require another dog in the home, in fairness to her, and she does require a secure yard at home, and is not a candidate for travel

She would be best in a home with dog savvy adults that are capable of reading body language and allowing the dogs to learn to trust without having an setbacks

We have had her spayed, vaccinated, microchipped on intake
Groomed regularly since
And she had her annual check up March 24th
Then a dental on April 15th

Her adoption fee is less than the cost of her dental alone

Check her info out at www.adoptapet.lucknow.on.ca

Many times when we post about an intake that is a breeder surrender and note that they will require another dog in the home and a secure yard due to the flight risk someone sends a message or posts asking for an exception

These dogs are often born in to the breeding life

They do not get the luxury of going outside to the bathroom at most set ups

They live in a high walled box where they can simply see walls ceiling and floors

They eat, sleep, poop and pee there

They do not know about housetraining nor do they know about leashes and collars when they arrive

They usually don't know about regular every day sounds or movements or tasks

We have had Sadie since July 5, 2023 and finally after almost 2 years she is able to cope with getting leashed to go out to the fenced yard without her feeling cornered - she had to wear a leash in the house for almost 2 years to be able to get her outside without her following her impulse is to bolt to avoid being caught and bred again - even though we have had her spayed

Their favorite place to be is with each other, and this is why they deserve to have a friend to help comfort each other and have companionship

They need the secure yard so that they do not bolt or back out of collar or leash or harness and get lost or hit by a vehicle

We do not make choices for these animals on whim - we make them after years of experience with dogs as well as after observing the individual animal's preferences

She is a work in progress as she was formerly a breeding dog

She is with a foster who specializes in rehabbing former breeding dogs

The newbies always love her dogs who mostly came from similiar backgrounds as she did

Sadie is looking for a home with experience with caring for former breeding dogs,
who have another dog that she can be a companion to,
And who have a very secure yard

Routine is her friend

Someone wanting to take her camping or in road trips would have a major flight risk on their hands

Sadie isn't going to suit the vast majority of people's preferences nor their homes or lifestyle but we are confident she will continue to evolve in the proper adoptive home

She is used to cats at her foster home

She is not used to kids and is best suited to a quiet home with a less busy home than one with constant movement and guests

We just had her dental done April 15/2025

If you have the perfect set up for Sadie we welcome your dog adoption application online at www.adoptapet.lucknow.on.ca
