Sadie's Story

oster needed for 5-month-old female yellow Lab mix puppy "Sadie"

Background.
The Lake County shelter took in six Lab mix puppies a few weeks ago: two males and four females. They allegedly came from some backyard breeder up in the mountains -- NFI. Good grief! They are all now in foster homes, but we need to find one of the puppies, Sadie, a new foster home. Would love for her to go to a foster home with another dog and people that are around a lot.

Sadie playing with Griz the cat -- https://youtube.com/shorts/cMTosbzav4Q

Relaxing with Rosie and Sadie -- https://youtu.be/xxcx6_pfXKc

Sadie and Rosie (and black Lab "Rufus") romping -- https://youtu.be/oasH8j6dpMA

The six Lake County puppies -- https://youtu.be/4mikIN2dbNo

What Sadie's foster says.
She is one of the sweetest girls ever. Couldn’t find a better puppy to love and be loved. The minute she came into our house, she just wanted to give kisses and be with us. She does very well with our 2 Labs. With our 6-year-old Lab she is respectful and kisses his face. He was the one to welcome her and Rosie and show them the ropes at his house. Our 1-year-old Lab has been rough and tumble with both Sadie and Rosia and they take it in stride. We have play off-and-on all day, but mid-day is definitely rest time.

Sadie sleeps great, almost completely through the night. Sometimes we get up at 5:30 AM and go take care of business and then go back to bed. Often she just sleeps on the dog bed next to my bed when I’m not ready to start the day yet. Unlike most puppies I’ve had or fostered, she settles right back down and let me sleep.

She is close to being potty trained - may have an accident when she is nervous. Sadie is learning commands and will sit for food and treats. We are working on recall and since we are usually at home, it hasn’t been much of a challenge as they know I often have treats or they are following the other dogs.

Sadie and Rosie love carrots and frozen mango as well as the traditional dog treats. They are both crate trained and also get along with our cats who have trained them to not get too close. We have had kids (about 10 years old) around and they absolutely loved them. Sadie and Rosie like playing tug of war & chase with each other and enjoy being outside sunbathing as well as with us wherever we are.

Whoever gets Sadie is going to be incredibly lucky to get such a sweet and loving companion. Sadie is not as hard charging as Rosie, but doesn’t shy away from play. She just gets away from it when she wants a break; and then she heads back in when she is ready. She is more exploratory and found a place to get out of our yard, which none of the other puppies here ever have. However, she came right back when I called her and we have since fixed the issue.

What Sadie's Rescue Rep says.
Sadie is now fully vaccinated so she can go on leash walks and explore the entire world around her. Presence of an existing dog in the foster home would be ideal.

Medical.
Sadie is in fine health, while she recovers from a strained muscle in one of her back legs -- too much crazy romping. Current on Rabies and distemper vaccinations. Microchipped. Spaying pends.

Sadie is currently located in: Novato.

If you can foster Sadie, please contact Rescue Rep Dave at david.c.ely@sbcglobal.net
