Found dumped in various rural fields in Ontario, this good dog was part of the rescue efforts by many to bring them all to safety into their local shelters and then they were transferred to rescue.<br/><br/>Mattie's Place welcomed 15 of the 25 rescued June 21<br/><br/>I have completed Embark DNA testing on a couple of them, hoping to be able to connect to buyers of other puppies from the breeder, and ultimately be able to connect authorities to the dumper.<br/><br/>These dogs were dumped with a horrific case of sarcoptic mange, that they have been inflicted with for a long time, since their skin was inflamed, raw, infected and many are mostly hairless from the mite trauma.<br/><br/>They have all been treated and are no longer contagious. Their foster homes are heroes for seeing these dogs through this very difficult time and giving them a safe place to land.<br/><br/>They have now all been spayed and neutered and are up to date medically and beginning to even grow their fur back!! Though some many never grow a full coat back due to the damage to the hair follicle, but we'll have to see.<br/><br/>They are all eating Carna 4 dog nuggets, which is an exceptional food for healthy skin and coats, so we're giving them the very best chance possible to recover hair growth from the inside out.<br/><br/>None of these dogs have aggression and have very darling personalities, but they are flight risks and have a very nervous energy as they learn to be companions vs. breeding stock for profit. They will flight long before they ever fight.<br/><br/>They all seem very good natured with children and other pets. If they still have love to give after the horrendous horrors they've faced in life, imagine how sweet they could have been, if only they had been treated kindly from the start.<br/><br/>Please stop buying puppies from backyard breeders. Only you can stop the horrific lives these adults and puppies live to line the pockets of breeders.<br/><br/>An adopter willing to work with a professional trainer to help them become more trusting and confident is a preference, unless you bring years of dog experience to the table. An adopter, home most often, so the work can be put in now, to expedite their human/animal bonding experiences and fast track them to be amazing companions. Preference will be given to those with a secured backyard, as the big world outside is a super scary place for them and walks are not yet something that would bring them joy as they still navigate day to day living in a home. All their foster homes have yards and the dogs love spending their time outside, in the calmness that brings them, without the stress of bikes, cars, busses, people, dogs and more on the sidewalks.<br/><br/>All the dogs are now housetrained, but an occasional pee pad use may be required. And for sure, the 1st week post adoption, there will be potty accidents until your new dog can figure out where "outside" is in your home and you both can read one another's signals to potty. Expect accidents. They will happen.<br/><br/>Sabine & Swiffer will need to stay together for adoption. Though Swiffer carries independence, Sabine really relies on the security that Swiffer brings to her life and I think they would do best staying together, mostly for Sabine as she seems to have bonded harder than the others to Swiffer who she's spent her life with in a breeding situation. <br/><br/>SWIFFER (black and white): <br/>given date of birth .... 06-23-25 / 3.8 KG or 8 POUNDS <br/><br/>SABINE (black and tan)<br/>given date of birth .... 01-01-21 / 5.50 KG or 12 POUNDS <br/><br/>$875 adoption fee per dog, for a total of: $1,750 <br/><br/>FROM THE FOSTER:<br/><br/>SABINE: is a sweet little girl who just needs a bit of time to feel safe. She may be shy when she first meets new people, but once she trusts you, her personality starts to shine. Before long, you'll be greeted with happy tail wags and her adorable little snorts whenever she's excited or wants your attention.<br/><br/>Sabine is a quiet dog who isn't much of a barker. She's crate trained and sleeps peacefully through the night until morning. She has a healthy appetite and is happiest at mealtime.<br/><br/>She's already pee pad trained and is beginning to learn that outside is also a great place to do her business. With the help of our family dog, Charlie, she's gaining confidence every day. Sabine loves exploring the outdoors, taking her time to sniff everything around her, and she's making great progress getting used to wearing a harness and walking on a leash.<br/><br/>Sabine is also quite independent. She enjoys spending time with her people but is equally happy relaxing on her own. She can be a bit bossy with the other dogs in the house, so she'll do best with patient introductions and clear boundaries as she continues to build her confidence and learn social skills.<br/><br/><br/>SWIFFER: is an adorable little puppy with a big personality, lots of energy, and an even bigger heart. She's curious about everything and is always ready for her next adventure. Whether she's exploring the backyard, playing with a toy, or following our family dog Charlie around, <br/><br/>She's a smart little girl who is very food motivated, so she's picking up new skills quickly. She loves her treats and is eager to learn when there's a reward involved. Swiffer also caught on to pee pad training very quickly and is now beginning to learn that outside is a great place to go too. She's making good progress getting used to wearing a harness and walking on a leash.<br/><br/>Swiffer is learning to enjoy her crate, although she can be vocal at bedtime while she adjusts. <br/><br/>She loves to play, especially with toys, and she's known for sneaking off with one that belongs to another dog just for fun. <br/><br/>More than anything else, Swiffer loves being with her people.
