Ryder's Story
YOU MUST HAVE AN APPROVED APPLICATION IN ORDER TO MEET OUR PETS.

Ryder is very special little guy who came up to a house seeking refuge. He was soaking wet, severely matted, and so dirty that he looked like a brown colored dog. Not any more!

Ryder was sitting on the mans golf cart when he was found, obviously hoping to be rescued (what a smart guy!!), and thats why we named him Ryder.

Over 4 pounds of matted fur was initially cut off him. Poor little guy must have been suffering for quite a while.

Ryder is around 15 pounds and about 5 years old.

He is SUPER sweet, friendly, affectionate and such a fun, funny, loving pup. He is very curious natured and likes to explore.

Ryder has a pretty laid back personality, is relaxed around other dogs and great on the leash. We recently took him to Red Beard training for an assessment and they said he was awesome!

He seems to be some kind of designer dog, maybe a Schnauzer mix of some kind such as a Schnoodle. He does have longer fur that will need regular grooming and hair cuts since it can mat easily.

Since he was obviously neglected and most likely had to live outside for a long time, he does need to learn the fine art of house training and will need to wear a belly band initially and stay on a potty schedule with lots of praise for successes. He just got neutered and less hormones should make house training easier. If left alone, he would be best crated or in a baby gated room until he gets the hang of it.

That outside life and neglect also gave him heartworm but we already have him started on the slow kill, more gentle method so he is free to go to his new home any time. He has no symptoms, feels fine.

He has a congenital heart murmur (we had an echo done) but has no symptoms so currently not an issue.

Ryder is talented at climbing and views a short fence as a fun challenge so needs a tall fence (over 4 feet) if he has a fenced yard in his new home and is allowed to run and play.

Ryder truly is a precious little guy with the best personality! He just needs an understanding and patient new family who will help him adjust his potty habits to life inside a home. A belly band will prevent accidents in the meantime.

Adoption donation $250.

Please note that we do not ship animals. We also require a home visit before finalizing any adoptions so preference is given to applicants within a 90 mile range. You will be required to come to High Point, NC to meet/pick up your new pet.

HOW TO APPLY:
1. Go to www.lppnc.org
2.
