Ruthie's Story

Ruthie is a gentle 7-year-old Bichon Frise who weighs just 15 pounds. She came from a breeder and hasn’t had an easy start to life, which has left her shy and cautious around people. Despite her past, Ruthie has a sweet, tender nature and just needs time, patience, and love to truly blossom.

Ruthie finds comfort and security in her crate and often chooses to spend quiet time there. She gets along well with other dogs (cats are unknown), and would thrive best in a calm, adult-only home. Ruthie would do best with someone with a fenced yard so she can continue her slow training of being outside and she’s not yet leash trained.

She’s still learning the ropes of house training and leash walking, and she’ll need an adopter willing to gently continue that work. While Ruthie doesn’t yet come when called, she loves to be held — once in your arms, she’ll happily relax and may even drift off to sleep while being petted.

If you have a peaceful home and a big heart for a little dog who’s learning to trust, Ruthie could be the perfect match.

Adoption $500

All UnderDogs are spayed/neutered, heartworm checked, microchipped, up to date on vaccines and heartworm/flea/tick preventatives. For consideration for one or more dogs, we require that an on-line application is filled out.

TO ADOPT THIS DOG PLEASE FILL OUT AN APPLICATION AT https://underdogrescueofflorida.com/.

Sorry, we do not adopt outside of Florida. Applicants are subject to a home visit, and veterinary references will be checked. Please include a vet reference (including phone number) when applying online.

Our application process:
FIRST, an application must be approved for adoption from our rescue.
SECOND, we determine whether the dog that has been applied for is a "good match" for the household that wants to adopt him/her. We take into consideration the dog's activity level, compatibility with other members of the household (human and other pets), etc.
If your application has been approved, but the dog you applied for is no longer available, please take the time and look over our adoptable dogs again. We will make every effort to find the right dog for an approved applicant.

We hope you agree and understand that our goal to find the best forever home is our #1 priority!
