Ruthie 's Story

Ruthie is still waiting. She really is the sweetest dog. She picks her favorite person and loves to snuggle up on the couch with you (usually under a blanket). She is pretty low key but enjoys hanging out outside and loves to lay in the sun.
Health-wise, she doesnt have any long term medical issues that we are aware of. Her bloodwork was normal and she was spayed shortly after joining our rescue. She is missing several teeth but has no issues eating and was missing a lot of fur but it is slowly growing back. She gets along great with other dogs and actually really likes to play and wrestle with them and does well with cats. She also lives with a toddler and is friendly with new people that come to the house.
Sadly, she is from a hoarding situation. Coming from a place like this does come with some behavioral issues but luckily hers have been reasonably mild. Her biggest issue has been housebreaking. She has gotten much better with this but still has the occasional accident and its usually when theres a lot of commotion and she gets overwhelmed. For example if someone comes home or the other dogs are barking at something outside etc. She is also just an anxious dog in general. She will follow you around the house and get very nervous when she senses you are about to leave. She does vocalize in her crate when left alone but this usually lasts a very short time. To help her with this, she was started on a low dose of medication which also helped a lot with her housebreaking. This could probably be discontinued in the future once she is comfortable in her new environment. Although she has come a long way since coming to our rescue, there is a chance she might regress a little once she goes into a new home. She would likely benefit from some in home sessions with a trainer.
If you are interested in adopting Ruthie, head to our website and fill out an application!
