Rusty's Story

A note from Rusty's foster mom:
Rusty is a terrier mix and the best boy. He is deaf and blind, but doesn’t let either of those disabilities stop him from living life. He knows how to use the doggie door and goes in and out at his will. Rusty does not like to be crated. He sleeps at the end of my bed on the floor in a dog bed and blanket and is happy there, although I’m sure if he got to sleep in a bed he would be happy. He has a cute little prance when he walks. He cannot jump up and struggles a bit when he tries to jump down, so I assist him with that.
Rusty would do well in a home with another dog. He has gotten along well with mine and tends to follow their lead as to whatever is going on, (ie, he picks up on their excitement at feeding, snack and walk time). When I get up in the AM he will usually follow me out of the room, but you do have to learn to watch for him as he will often walk in front of me and stop or if I get to far ahead, he will plow into the back of my legs at a run.
He is pretty quiet. He does like to be loved, but not for prolonged amount of time. He likes to be brushed and does not mind being trimmed up. I do not know about having his nails clipped.
This pup will just need a bit of patience while he figures out his world, and will warm your heart once he figures it out!
For information on how to adopt Rusty, please send a note to salemdogs@aol.com and tell us about yourself and why this dog.
