Rusty's Story

Meet Rusty

Rusty is a 2-year-old, 50 lb Cattle Dog mix with a gentle soul, a playful side, and so much potential just waiting to bloom.

Rusty didnt have the easiest start in life and can be a little shy in new situations, but underneath that cautious exterior is a sweet, silly boy who is making incredible progress every day. Watching him open up, wag his tail, play with toys, and start trusting people is something really special.

He loves playing with other dogs and would especially enjoy a home with a confident dog friend to help show him the ropes. He enjoys puzzle toys, chew toys, chicken treats, and the occasional Squishmallow, and hes discovering how fun life can be.

Rusty can be timid with new people and unfamiliar environments, but he responds with avoidance rather than aggression and continues to gain confidence with patience and positive reinforcement. He has already made huge strides with leash walking, crate training, and potty training, and hes a quick learner.

He walks nicely on leash, does well with other dogs and cats, and would do best with older, dog-savvy children who can go slow and give him time to warm up. An active but patient home that understands shy dogs and lets him settle in at his own pace would help him thrive.

Why youll love Rusty:
Sweet, gentle, and quietly affectionate
Playful and loves other dogs
Medium energy and enjoys activity
Smart and eager to learn
Doing great with leash, crate, and potty training
A rewarding dog to watch blossom

Rusty may start out a little reserved, but once he trusts you, you get to see the goofy, loving dog underneath and he is absolutely worth it.

Ready to meet Rusty?

Apply to adopt here:
https://petstablished.com/adoption_form/70992/generic

Rusty is located in Texas but can be adopted locally or out of state. Ruff Road Revival's Adoption Policy
The first step to the adoption process is filling out our adoption application online. We then do a vet check and check character reference, followed up by reaching out to the potential adopter to answer any questions they may have. If they are still interested at that point, we have the foster reach out to them so that they can get a better feel for if it is the right fit both for the adopter and for the animal. This also gives the potential adopter a chance to either set up a meet and greet with the animal if they are local or video chat with the animal to see their personality if they are out of state. If they are local, the next step would be a meet and greet and if that goes well, they would sign the adoption contract and pay the adoption fee and take the animal home. If they are out of state and decide to move forward with adoption, they will then sign the adoption contract and pay the adoption fee. We will schedule the transport and send all information to the potential adopter. The animal will receive a health certificate prior to transport and the adopter will be added to a group chat during the transport process.
