Rusty's Story
RUSTY IS WAITING FOR SOMEONE WHO WILL BE PATIENT WITH HIS HEART.

Meet Rusty. This sweet 3-year-old Chihuahua–Dachshund–Pug mix has been through more change than any little dog should have to endure. He came from a hoarding situation where he received very little positive attention and had never even experienced the outside world. He eventually found his way into foster care, where he began learning what it feels like to be safe.

Then, through no fault of his own, Rusty's world changed again. His momma passed away, and there was no one left to care for him. So Rusty came back to rescue.

But here's the beautiful part. In just two weeks back in his foster home, Rusty has already gained so much confidence. He's starting to relax, show more of his personality, and discover that maybe—just maybe—the world isn't such a scary place after all.

Rusty isn't going to be the dog who runs up to a stranger and jumps into their lap. He needs time. He needs patience. He needs someone who will let him decide when he's ready to take that next step. He also needs a self-assured dog in the home to help his confidence grow.

But if you're willing to go at Rusty's pace, you may get to experience something incredibly special: the moment a scared little dog finally realizes he is safe with you.

Rusty is potty trained, sleeps quietly in his crate, loves toys and popcorn, and enjoys playing with other dogs. He does well with cats, too! A calm home, patient humans, and a securely fenced yard are musts for this special boy.

Rusty doesn't need someone to “fix” him. He just needs someone willing to believe in him.

Could you be the person who gives Rusty the time, patience, and forever home he deserves?

He is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and is available for adoption now. Apply directly at www.pawsacrosspittsburgh.com/adopt through Paws Across Pittsburgh, Springdale, PA 15144, KL#16182.
