RUSTY's Story
Meet Rusty

If happiness had four legs and a wagging tail, it would look a lot like Rusty.

The first thing you'll notice is his smile. The second thing you'll notice is that it rarely leaves his face. Rusty approaches life with contagious joy, whether he's hiking a trail, playing with his dog friends, or simply soaking up attention from his favorite people.

At just under 40 pounds, Rusty is the perfect size to join you on adventures without taking over the whole couch—although he'd happily cuddle up beside you when the day is done.

Rusty is a loving, affectionate boy who enjoys being close to his people, but he's also confident enough to entertain himself while exploring the world around him. Curious by nature, he's always taking in new sights, smells, and experiences with bright eyes and an eager spirit.

He's crate trained, sleeps quietly through the night, rides well in the car (though he may try to sneak you an affectionate ear kiss first!), and continues to make wonderful progress with his house manners. Like many young male dogs, he has occasionally marked indoors, but this has improved tremendously in foster care and is expected to continue improving once he's neutered.

Rusty thrives with an active lifestyle. Hiking is one of his favorite activities, and he's already learning trail manners and recall with training. He has plenty of energy for outdoor adventures but also settles nicely after he's had a chance to exercise and explore.

One of Rusty's favorite things in the world is playing with other dogs. He gets along beautifully with both male and female dogs and would likely love having a playful canine sibling. Like many Husky mixes, he can be wonderfully expressive during play—he "talks" to his friends and can get a little rowdy, but it's all part of his happy, social personality. He's also working on keeping his excitement (and those playful puppy mouthy moments) under control, and he's making great progress with consistent guidance.

Rusty is incredibly people-oriented and has never met a stranger he didn't want to befriend. He's also been calm around horses and goats, showing curiosity without chasing them.

Most of all, Rusty is simply a joyful dog. The kind who greets every day like it's the best day ever.

If you're looking for a hiking buddy, a playmate, and a loyal best friend who will fill your home with laughter and smiles, Rusty is waiting to meet you.

Rusty at a Glance

* Breed: Husky / Collie mix (best guess)
* Age: Young Adult
* Weight: 39 lbs
* Neutered: Scheduled: Yes
* House Trained: Almost there! Whether it's hiking a mountain trail, playing with another friendly dog, or relaxing at home after a full day outdoors, Rusty is happiest when he's sharing life's adventures with the people he loves. Give him consistency, continued training, and plenty of opportunities to burn off energy, and you'll have a loyal companion whose joyful spirit is absolutely contagious.

Come meet Rusty and don't be surprised if you find yourself smiling right along with him.
