Good afternoon, my name is Russell and I'm a Wilderness Explorer. Are you in need of a new buddy today? I'm a 1-year-old, Bull Terrier mix and I weigh around 62 pounds. I'm a happy go lucky, energetic, and playful guy. My friends here at PHS say that I'm super affectionate when cuddling and a full body player with equal parts goofball energy. Here's how I did:<br/>Russell rode calmly in the car and confidently explored his new surroundings. By day two he was settling down on a dog bed on his own, and even the blender didn't faze him. He had zero accidents, slept through the night in his crate, and relaxes in it during the day too. This boy loves to play! He had a blast chasing balls in the backyard and adores soft toys (so much that he 'loved' them all to pieces). He also enjoys gentle pets when he's calm and our eight-year-old son was happy to get some pets in. His training at PHS really shined through. He walks nicely on leash once settled, knows most of his commands, and quickly learned the kitchen and couch were off-limits. Like any puppy, he'll test boundaries for food or snuggles, but he responds well to consistent cues. Russell likes having his people close. He may whine when someone leaves, but he settles quickly once a familiar person sits with him, and he prefers company in the yard. With patience and consistency, this can keep improving. Russell will thrive with an active family who can offer plenty of exercise, clear boundaries, and help building confidence with alone time. In return, you'll get a smart, playful, affectionate companion who's well on his way to being a great family dog.Unless otherwise indicated, adoptable animals are located at our Lantos Center for Compassion at 1450 Rollins Road, Burlingame, CA 94010.<br/>You may call us at 650-340-7022 to schedule an appointment, or just drop by. Drop-In hours for Same Day Adoptions are 11 am – 5 pm, 7 days a week (closed major holidays). We do our best to update our listings regularly, but we can’t guarantee every animal you see is still available. It’s also typical for us to have animals who haven’t had their photos taken yet, so you are welcome to visit our adoption center and have a look around!<br/>To check on an animal's adoption status, please call 650-340-7022 during normal business hours to speak with an adoption counselor. Emails will be returned as soon as possible, but please allow up to 48 hours during busy adoption periods like weekends.
