Rumple's Story
Meet Rumple. He’s four years old, weighs 45 pounds, and looks like a bear who gave up hibernation to become someone’s best friend. His name sounds tough, but deep down he’s all heart.

Rumple is a Sapsali, an old Korean breed said to bring good luck and chase away bad spirits. The breed almost disappears in the 1980s, but a few dogs that left and some determined enthusiasts along with genetic scientists from Europe, revive and save the
breed ..

Very early in life, Rumple and his brother Saul found themself on a dog meat farm. The place is terrible but somehow they survive long enough to be rescued. They move to a shelter, finally safe… until a fire destroys it. And again — Rumple and Saul make it out alive. At this point, even the universe is probably thinking, “Okay, this dog refuses to quit.”

After the fire, they go to a dog training school, where Rumple learns how to walk on leash, do his business outside, and share snacks like a civilized citizen. But big dogs don’t get adopted easily in Korea, so Rumple packs his fluff and flies to the U.S. to look for a family of his own .

Now he lives in a foster home, and he is slowly learning that life can be calm and kind. He likes quiet rooms, soft voices, and gentle people. He prefers to be in a company of women, but men with gentle touch and snack in his hand will do it too. He likes kids as well.
He tolerates dogs who are calm and polite. Who are not hanging around his bowl and favourite toys. We are not sure about his relationship with cats and other small animals.
He is most comfortable as the only dog, though lately he has been choosing to sleep next to one very calm dog in the home, which is a big deal for him.
If something outside feels too overwhelming, he simply sits down and takes a little emotional timeout. Very mature. Very relatable. When guests arrive, he sometimes stays upstairs where he feels safe, but when dinner time comes, he appears like, “Hello, yes, I heard food”.

He doesn’t destroy things, doesn’t bark at random shadows, and yes — he watches TV like a fluffy human who judges your show choices. Baths are not his favourite, but he accepts his fate and stands there like a wet stuffed animal.

Rumple survives fear, fire, travel, and change — and somehow stays gentle, quiet, and full of hope. He is vaccinated, neutered, microchipped, and ready to finally settle into a home where he doesn’t have to survive anything anymore.

Some dogs bounce around like popcorn. Rumple is more like a soft blanket that occasionally asks for snacks.

And now, he’s simply waiting for the person who will say, “Come home, buddy. You’re safe now.
So if you got a calm home and a kind heart, Rumple is ready to be your good-luck charm.
