Ruggy's Story
**WE ARE ALWAYS IN NEED OF FOSTER HOMES** Homeward Bound Dog Rescue is an all volunteer rescue organization and all our dogs and puppies are in foster homes - we are not a shelter and do NOT have a facility where we house our dogs. For adoption information go to: www.homewardbounddogrescue.com. You must fill out an application online as we do NOT accept applications at our clinics.

Hi my name is Ruggy... terrible name I know but that's the name my family who surrendered me called me for my whole life. My foster mom calls me Roogy Rue or just Rue.

I'm 6 years old and about 9 pounds. I lived with a family of 2 adults, 3 kids and 2 other dogs. In my new home I do not want to live with kids. I am not a fan of being picked up, mom attributes that to being carried around like a ragdoll and probably dropped due to my small size.

I am shy when we first meet but if you sit down next to me and start petting me I will just melt. My favorite place to be is next to you. As typical for a little dog I have a big personality and I'm pretty spunky too.

I was the smallest dog in my last home and I learned to be the boss. Because of my sassiness I would be best as an only dog in the home. I don't need dog socialization, I only want my one and only person or maybe two.

I am not a fan of the crate and I will bark when I'm in it. If I was an only dog I would not need a crate. I'm not mischievous and do not get into things. I am a great alarm system though meaning I will bark to alert you of any noises, hence apartment life is not appropriate for me.

I sleep in a dog bed in the living room. I would prefer to snuggle with mom but once I peed on her bed, just once, so now I'm not allowed on it.

My foster home has a fenced in yard so mom isn't sure how I will do on a leash. The yard doesn't need to be big, just big enough for you and I to sit outside and enjoy the day. I ride great in the car while hooked in a dog car seat.

I am potty pad trained. If one isn't down, well, then it's the floor. Some of the time I will go outside to potty but it's no guarantee.

What I will guarantee you is I will be your best little snuggle bug. I don't ask for much, just lots and lots of love and snuggles and food. I love food too!

Don't you want to spoil little ole me? I will forever be your girl. Lets get that application in and start the adoption ball rolling.

Our adoption clinics are held one Saturday a month at our facility in Schenectady on John Street, located directly behind Boulevard Bowl (Erie Boulevard) from 10 am to 12 pm (directions are on our website). We require an approved application before we consider anyone for an adoption - so filling out the application is your first step. Once your application has been reviewed, you will receive an email invitation to attend an adoption event. Different dogs and puppies go up for adoption EVERY WEEK so please feel free to visit the site and click on the Petfinder link for updates as we are adopting dogs out in between adoption events. Puppies and dogs up to 2 years old are $395. Dogs over 2 years old are $295. 100% of the adoption fees go to help us save more dogs.
