Ruger's Story

Ruger was surrendered through no fault of his own and is now looking for a loving home. He is reported to do well with dogs, children, and strangers, making him a great fit for many types of families. Ruger is housebroken, rides well in the car, and walks nicely on a leash, making him an easy companion for both everyday life and outings. He does experience separation anxiety and does not like being left alone, so he would do best in a home where someone is around often or can help him work through this with patience and consistency. Ruger is said to have a beef allergy and has been on apoquel and prednisone to manage his skin. Ruger is neutered, fully vaccinated, dewormed, and microchipped. <br/>Ruger is exceptionally overweight is currently on a diet. A diet is recommend in his future home for his health.

Erath County Humane Society's Adoption Policy
When someone comes in wanting to adopt, we first ask what they are looking for in a new pet. If they can describe what they are looking for, we will make some suggestions based on that criteria, and then let them go through the shelter looking at the adoptable animals. There are kennel cards on each kennel with information specific to that animal. Once they find an animal they are interested in we do a meet and greet with the person interested in adopting. If they have other pets, we recommend a meet and greet with current pets as well. Whatever animal the potential adopter chooses, we highly suggest a 5 day foster period to make sure the animal and the adopter are a good fit.
