Rugby 's Story
PLEASE NOTE: We always check vet references.

This sweet guy is "Rugby Brown." Rugby is approximately 5 years old, 50 lbs, and is an active guy. Rugby loves to snuggle, play fetch (his current favorite toy ever is his squeaky orange frisbee disc!), LOVES to go for walks (if you are looking for a walking buddy, this is your boy!), and going for car rides. Rugby has completed a couple training courses with his foster, including basic obedience and a confidence building course. He enjoys the bond training gives him with his person (and the treats are pretty great too, he says!)

Rugby needs time to get comfortable in new situations and is quite timid about new experiences. He needs a family that will be committed to helping him continue to build his confidence and give him time to get used to new experiences. Once comfortable in a home, he is a loving, playful, snuggly, young dog that loves his people and dog friends.

Rugby could be an only dog or would also do well in a home with another dog (he does prefer that his male dog friends be his size or smaller). Rugby is a great friend to small dogs and does well with small dogs from puppy to senior, including dogs with medical issues/special needs. We think Rugby would do best in a home without children as sudden movements and unexpected noises are scary to him. Rugby does enjoy chasing the cats in his foster home at times (although he is not aggressive towards them). Rugby is more comfortable with women, but can warm up to men after he has bonded with a woman in the household.

Rugby is our longest resident in foster and he deserves a family of his very own! Please consider giving this sweet, loyal, lovable boy a chance.

Note: We can only seriously consider those potential adopters who complete an adoption application: https://www.stlsdp.org/adoption-application
