With his unique grey coat and soulful white accents, he is a truly handsome fellow, though his heart is much more reserved than his bold appearance might suggest. Rufus is currently very shy and navigates the world with a cautious perspective, often preferring to observe from a distance while he gathers his courage. He is looking for a very special, patient home—one that is ready to embrace the rewarding journey of helping a timid dog find his voice and grow into the confident boy he is meant to be.<br/><br/>Like a true "dog’s dog," Rufus finds his confidence through the company of other canines. He looks to his four-legged friends for guidance, learning how to navigate the world and how to interact with people by watching them. Because he relies so heavily on this social support, Rufus does his absolute best in the presence of other dogs. A home with a confident canine sibling would be the perfect environment to help him transition from a shy observer into the happy boy we know he can be.<br/><br/>Rufus is a gentle soul who is perfectly compatible with cats and would do well in a household with older children who can understand and respect his boundaries. All of our dogs are rescued from kill shelters in SC + GA and once ready for adoption live in loving local NJ foster homes until they find forever families of their own.
