Ruby's Story

Ruby was raised for the hunt. Skilled, driven, and active, she has exceptional training skills, and great house manners. She has put her hunting days behind her and has traded them in for the life of a loved family dog. Currently at foster, six-year-old Ruby is her human’s shadow and a faithful companion. An affectionate, people-loving companion, she has the loyal heart of a typical Labrador Retriever.
Her training, unsurprisingly, resulted in prey drive. She does not do well with small dogs, cats, or other critters. And when her hunting days ended, she was forced into breeding. It did not go well. She can be walked past or be by other dogs but requires careful one-on-one introductions to confident dogs and should be the only dog in the home. Cats are a definite ‘no’ for her, but kids 10+ would appreciate her playful side.
The perfect age, Ruby is young enough to have good energy but mature enough to appreciate a calm, quiet life. Ruby is an outstanding, devoted companion who loves her walks, play, adventures, and time spent with people who understand and respect her desire to be your one and only fur-family member. In return, she offers a grateful heart.
Ruby is available through Homeward Bound Golden Retriever Rescue dog near Sacramento, CA. We adopt in state and to the Reno, NV area.
