Ruby's Story

Meet Ruby!

Like the gemstone she's named after, Ruby is beautiful, resilient, and shines even after life's hardest storms.

This gorgeous Black Mouth Cur/Shepherd mix is approximately 3.5-4 years old and has a heart as big as her smile. Ruby's world was turned upside down when a fire destroyed her family's home, and she found herself saying goodbye to everything she knew. After spending several months in the shelter, she's finally getting the chance to remember what it feels like to be loved, safe, and part of a family again.

And oh, does Ruby love her people.

If Ruby had one wish, it would be to accompany her favorite human absolutely everywhere. Kitchen? She's there. Living room? Right behind you. Bathroom? She volunteers as your emotional support supervisor. Ruby is happiest when she's close to the people she loves and never misses an opportunity to hand out affection, tail wags, and adoring looks.

Because of all the changes she's experienced, Ruby can sometimes feel anxious when she can't see her foster mom. After losing her home and family, she just wants reassurance that her people are still there. She's already making progress and learning that love doesn't disappear when someone leaves the room, and with patience and consistency, her confidence continues to grow every day.

Ruby is....
Great with other dogs
Kid friendly
Housebroken
Crate trained
Playful & friendly
Smart & sweet
FULLY VETTED

Ruby has already survived the fire. Now she's looking for the spark that comes nexta family to love, a couch to claim, and a place to finally call home.

NOTE: We do NOT respond to PetFinder inquiries, you must submit an application. Two Black Dogs Foundation's Adoption Policy
All adopters MUST fill out an application. We do not respond to inquiries submitted through PetFinder. If you have questions about a specific animal feel free to email us, or send us a message on Facebook. Applications are reviewed in the order they are received. If you are approved to adopt a member of our team will contact you. Meet and greets are set up by appointment only after you’ve been approved. In most cases you are allowed to take your new pet home after your meet and greet, unless the animal is too young to be spayed/neutered, in which case you will sign up to foster-to-adopt. We do not hold animals so please do not apply or set up a meet and greet unless you are ready to leave with your new pet. Any vetting done at your own vet clinic will be at your own expense. Spay/neuter included in adoption fee must be done by one of our local partner vet clinics, and adopter is responsible for arranging transportation. All animals adopted through TBDF are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, flea and parasite free and up to date on their preventions. All cats and kittens are FiV/FeLV tested, all dogs over 6 months of age are heartworm tested and treated if positive.
