Rubee's Story
Adoption Fee: $100
Age: 13 years
Weight: 5 lbs.
Fostered in Covington, LA
Email: bryorkiemom@yahoo.com

1/9/26 - Rubee was previously being fostered in San Antonio, Texas, but she and the other female yorkie in the home weren't getting along. We now know that Rubee must go to a home without a female dog. She seems to do fine with the males. Guess she doesn't like competing for the Queen title. She is now in another YHR foster home in Covington, Louisiana. She just arrived today and is settling in nicely.

12/23/25 - Rubee wants to wish everyone an early Merry Christmas and let everyone know that she is still waiting on her forever home where she can be the queen of the house. She would love to be the only dog, but at the least, not have a fur-sister. lol Seems the opposite sex would be ok, but she isn't feeling having a sister. Know yourself Rubee!!

10/20/25 - Hi! My name is Rubee like the gemstone (just spelled different). However, what we do have in common is that, like the gemstone, I have exceptional beauty and am very unique. You would think something so rare, would not be in a rescue. Which brings me to my story. I happily lived with my mom for all of my 13 years until recently. Our circumstances changed and mom had to make the tough decision to reach out to rescue so I could find another home. This really hurt both of us tremendously, but we know it was for the best. Yes, if you are doing math in your head right now, that makes me a senior, or as I like to call myself, Vintage!

Let’s be clear, I’m the whole package. A solid 5 pounds of perfectly curated fluff. My teeth have been officially retired, so I am a soft-food connoisseur. And my eyes? A bit cloudy, perhaps, but my vision is good enough—especially for spotting you returning from a brief absence when I will do a happy dance. While we are on the subject, let’s talk about these absences. I like them to be very few and far between because when you leave, I get very anxious and break out in song. Ok, maybe not song so much as whine (for a long time – I’m no quitter). So, I’m thinking retired parents are the way to go.

I have a few quirks, but think of them as my signature charm. First, I am a people-dog, not a dog-dog. I would actually prefer to be the only furbaby, but if we must have another, I prefer a cat. I will not play second fiddle to another dog in the house, but especially not another female dog. I get very jealous and have no problem stirring up trouble.

I'm a cuddle champion and will happily sleep with you every night. I'm so smart I can even use the doggy stairs to get on and off the bed.

When I’m not demanding attention, I’m a calm and serene companion, perfectly content with the quiet sounds of a house. I’m also an intellectual, having mastered the doggy stairs. I love my daily walks, but I'm most content in your lap.

Small children and I probably won’t mix. I like a peaceful, predictable environment and let’s face it, sometimes they bring the chaos.

I’m very smart (as I have learned the doggy door at my foster home already). I also love going for walks. I’m not a big fan of playing with toys as that might make me perspire. But when the foster siblings play, I quickly tattle to foster mom. That roughhousing is ridiculous.

I love foster mom and dad the same and love to cuddle on the couch with either, but when it’s bedtime, I scurry up the doggy steps and quickly snuggle up right by foster mom.

So, I’m smart, I’m charming, and I’m ready for my next loyal subject. I have so much love to give, and I'm ready to find a human who wants a loyal, loving shadow for the rest of my life. Let me bring a little exceptional beauty and vintage charm to your life.

10/9/25 - BIO COMING SOON!
