Rubble's Story

We've posted for Rubble in the Fall, but now he's READY for adoption!!

Meet Rubble!

Rubble is a two-year-old English bulldog who found himself as a local stray when his owner did not claim him. For the past seven months, he's been in a foster home, decompressing and learning how to be a good boy.

There are two types of English bulldogs: Chonks and Crackheads. Rubble falls into the latter. He requires mental and physical enrichment, or he will morph into a T-Rex and try to eat his way through anything that looks like it might be a "sweet treat."

When Rubble came to us, he was a ball of anxiety and had no dog-to-dog communication skills. He did not stop barking when left alone and he would stare down or hump our resident dog. This went on for six weeks. Since then, Rubble has learned better dog-on-dog communication and behavior skills, but he will still try to hump our resident dog. (He also tends to hump new people who come into the home.) Ultimately, he would do best in a home without other dogs because he just wants all your love and attention! At the end of the day, he truly is more interested in people than other dogs.

An ideal home would include someone who works from home or tends to be home often. Rubble cannot be crated. He has some scarring that is congruent with a crate escape from his past life. While he does enjoy occasionally sleeping or relaxing in a crate, he does not like the door to be closed. When we leave the house, he does well in a Rubble-proof room where he cannot get into any mischief.

Rubble LOVES to chew, but he did recently have four teeth removed, so we must be selective about his chews. Nothing too hard! When he came to us, he didn't know how to play with toys, but he's since gutted a handful of stuffies and enjoys playing tug-of-war.

Finally, Rubble would do best in a home without small children. If he gets into something he's not supposed to have (dirty laundry, garbage, recycling, food, etc.), he will growl and snap when you try to remove it. That said, he is highly treat motivated and will exchange the item. For safety reasons, we do not want tiny hands trying to grab a high-value item from him. Other "sweet treats" include plants. If you are a plant lover, Rubble is not for you.

Rubble has face card that doesn't decline and he loves to snuggle into you at night (if you allow him to sleep in bed). We know he will bring a ton of joy to the right person or family. We know a LOT of people will be interested in him, but as always, we are committed to finding the right fit so everyone is happy and healthy.

If you think that Rubble would be a good fit for your home, please let us know...

https://queencitypitties.com/adoption-application/

Queen City Pitties Animal Rescue, Inc.'s Adoption Policy
We are very serious about placing the dogs in our care into appropriately matched and loving forever homes. We believe in making perfect connections for all involved. This results in Queen City Pitties being a lifelong resource to the families we adopt to. Please read over our adoption requirements carefully before applying. While some of our policies seem strict, there is a reason for each and every one. We rescue them with the intent that they will never, ever again face the situation in which we had to rescue them from. This is a responsibility we take very seriously. Adoption process is as follows: Fill out and fully complete an online application Reference checks / Vet check Phone screening and home visit Meet and greet Follow up after adoption Adoption requirements: Be at least 25 (we may make exceptions for stellar applicants!). Submit a fully completed application. Applications that are not complete will not be considered. Provide solid references (vet preferred). Consent to a home visit. We prefer fenced in yards and will NOT accept invisible fencing. There is no age requirement for children, but keep in mind, some dogs will do better with older children. As such, we will place each dog as an individual according to their needs. If you rent, you must be willing to provide authorization from your landlord that you are approved. If you own your own home, please be prepared to show proof that your homeowner’s insurance allows for pit bulls and pit bull mixes. Enroll your new addition (no matter what age) into training. This is non-negotiable. If you have current animals, they MUST be up to date on vaccines and spayed/neutered. If there is a valid medical reason why they are not, we must see proof of that. Dogs available through QCP are vaccinated, heartworm tested (if old enough)/treated, fecal tested, dewormed, microchipped, temperament tested, cared for in foster homes, attend training, are well socialized, and spay/neutered. The adoption donation is $350.00. There will be no negotiating the adoption donation. Adoption donations are also non-refundable. While local adoptions are always preferred, we are willing to adopt to our communities within an hour of Buffalo/Western New York. Applications from inside the state of NY that are not local will be considered on a case by case basis. Because we are all volunteers, many of us with full time jobs, it is incredibly hard for us to travel long distances and therefore we cannot adopt out of state. WE CANNOT ADOPT BULLY BREEDS INTO CANADA DUE TO BSL. We are meticulous about the responsible placement of our dogs. It is our firm belief that responsible placement is one excellent way to dispel myths and restore our breed to their former position of respect. Being responsible for a companion animal requires great commitment and responsibility and it should be a serious, well thought out decision. Please take time to research the breed at a few of the links we’ve provided in our useful information on pit bulls section. There is some solid, reputable information to be found in these links. Do your research! We reserve the right to deny any application or end the adoption process at any time for any reason. We also reserve the right to remove a dog from a home if it is determined our adoption contract has been breached. WE CANNOT ADOPT OUT OF STATE OR INTO CANADA. Ready to meet your new companion? Fill out the application! https://queencitypitties.com/adoption-application/
