Ruah (Roo)'s Story
Hi! My name is Ruah, but my foster parents say I like to dance around on my back legs like a kangaroo so Roo is the name they use! I’m a sweet, smart, sassy girl who loves life! I’m also swift! Playing fetch with my toys is a fantastic game! And I love running around in the yard with my foster brothers and “hunting” squirrels with them. I do well around dogs my size or bigger, and I love to play! When I have been around cats, I have just ignored them. I am potty trained when I have access to the doggie door, and I do well at letting my foster parents know when I need to go out when it is closed. I’m okay on a leash, and my foster mom says I will be much better with regular practice since I am so smart! I do sleep in my crate at night and stay in it during the day whenever my foster parents are away from the house. I respond very well to her verbal commands when I am not on leash. I am a little wary of strangers but I warm up after a couple of minutes, especially if my foster parents like the strangers. My foster mom says I am not a "velcro" dog, whatever that means, but that I do demand my share of love and attention. When my foster mom has been out of town, I have stayed with a single female who was retired, as an "only" dog, and done well, and I have stayed with a couple who had other dogs, and we enjoyed playing. I have also enjoyed playing with kids 8 and older. I have not been around ones younger than that. As for my vitals, they classified me as a whippet mix at the shelter, but my foster mom says I am part basenji as well. I am around 2.5 years old, heart worm negative, spayed, fully vaccinated, and weigh around 20 pounds. I do love my food, but I am not overly protective of it. I was rescued from the San Antonio animal shelter as a too thin momma, without my puppies. I don’t know where they are, but I hope they found some nice people like I did.
