Rozie's Story

Name: Rozie
Breed: Pit Bull Mix
Sex: Spayed Female
Age: 2 years
Weight: 56 lbs
Animal Number: 4453

Sweet, Sensitive, Shy Love Bug

Good with dogs? Yes, Rozie loves other dogs, is most comfortable with other peaceful dogs of her own size or smaller, and would do best in a home with a gentle doggie friend to help her build confidence. She prefers to walk on leash side by side with her trusted doggie companion, and often leans on her for safety and security.

Good with cats? Not Tested.

Good with kids? Not Tested in foster care, but reportedly she lived with kids before. Since she’s anxious she may do better with older kids.

Energy level: Medium, except for her morning bursts of happiness! She likes to do little leaps and spins, and takes several walks a day, but just likes to hang out and keep you company. She likes to be on the couch or bed with her people, and loves snuggles! She is learning how to play with toys.

Behavioral needs: Rozie is currently taking anti-anxiety medicine to help with her transition to a new environment. This may change as she settles into her forever home, but Rozie has a history of eating things she shouldn’t and has had to get X-rays for clothes, toys and even a shredded slow feeder in her tummy. Rozie needs an adopter who will take the time and effort to train her and help her feel safe and secure.

Animal Characteristics: Rozie is a sweet, sensitive, shy love bug who quickly warms up to loving people and enjoys being petted and treated with gentle affection. She is charming, playful and goofy once she has relaxed! She is a bit anxious and fearful when outside on walks, in new spaces, or around quick movements, so she loves the soothing company of both humans and dogs that she trusts. Rozie would be very happy with a sweet doggie sibling, but could also live in a home with a yard as long as she does not need to go outside on walks, since she currently is worried about walking without a confident dog by her side. Rozie responds to her name, listens well and is food motivated, so she should continue to do well with positive reinforcement training, love, and delicious meals and treats! She is crate trained, good riding in a car (preferably with a doggie friend), and is working on completing her potty training. Adorable Rozie is looking for a patient, peaceful, loving home where she can settle in and blossom as a beloved family member who’s ready to share her affection!

Please learn more about the adoption process and fill out an application at www.pawsco.org/adopt/adoption-process.
