Roxie's Story

Roxie is a beautiful 5-year-old chocolate lab (she will turn 6 this summer) who is blossoming into the dog she was always meant to be. After spending all of her life in a local puppy mill, Roxie has been in foster care for the past month, where she has been learning what love, comfort, and family life are all about.

Since coming to North Paw Rescue, Roxie has made amazing progress in her foster home. She arrived overweight at 89 pounds and is now a healthier 76 pounds! It's amazing what good food, regular exercise, and lots of care can do!

Roxie is an incredibly sweet, loyal, and well-behaved girl. She loves being close to her people. She sleeps happily on the bed at night with her humans. That being said, she is crate trained, and while it isn’t her favorite place to be, she will gladly go in with a treat. It is also the safest place for her when left alone and she is used to it during daylight hours.

Like many labs, Roxie loves to be outside and we have learned that she absolutely loves water! She recently discovered she can swim—and took to it naturally. She also enjoys playing with toys in the yard and continues to gain confidence every day.

Because of her past of neglect and abuse, Roxie can still be a little fearful of loud noises and sudden commotion. She has done well with all of the children that she's met and enjoys visits from grandkids in her foster home, but she would likely thrive best in a calmer, quieter home where she can relax and continue to feel safe. She would be a wonderful companion for retirees or anyone looking for a loving, loyal dog who enjoys walks, companionship, and peaceful home life.

Roxie has shown no food aggression, no toy aggression, and has a heart full of love to give! She gets along with dogs of all sizes and has even lived with a cat!

Roxie's adoption fee is $500! This adoption fee includes: her alter, a microchip, her rabies, bordetella, and age appropriate DAPP vaccines, flea/heartworm preventative, and a deworming treatment while in foster care.

If you think she may be perfect for you, please apply using the link below!

https://www.cognitoforms.com/NorthPawRescue/NorthPawRescueDogAdoptionApplication

**Unfortunately, we cannot adopt out to Canada at this time.

**We require a 60 minute adoption radius.
