Roxi's Story
Roxi is an active, playful, boss babe, outgoing, and social Boston Terrier. Be ready for some indoor playtime and lots of outside time as Roxi loves to gallop around the backyard and take in as many walks as possible. She is curious about the outdoors and will absolutely explore every inch of the yard. Foxi Roxi (as she is affectionately referred to) can often be found sunning her buns, playing keep away with any/all of her treasures, chasing around her bouncy balls, nibbling on her bones, and playing tug-of-war with her braided rope. Roxi is a TON of Boston fun but this fun girl likes to be in charge. She likes to be in control and is quite the alpha girl around her furry friends. She prefers dogs her size and has been reactive on walks when she sees a large furry creature; she gets “growly” and will let out a few barks.
Her happy place is anywhere and everywhere with her people doing whatever they are and demanding to be part of it! Roxi is very much in need of lots of attention. After some fun roaming around in the grass, a game of fetch with her favorite ball, or bouncing and rolling around with her beloved stuffed squeaky toy, you can find Roxi searching for her people to snuggle up on their lap for a snooze. She is very playful and does need constant stimulation but she also does have quite a chill side and is as sweet as can be when cuddled up next to her people. Her favorite place is on the soft couch all cuddled up, pressed into her people while ensuring she gets the desired affection she needs as she does have a jealous side when the attention is on the resident pup.
Roxi is a social butterfly, and seems to get along well with every human she meets but due to her resource-guarding temperament (she is NOT aggressive but can growl and bark when something of hers is being occupied by the other dog), we think she would do best in a home that had children 5 years or older. Slow introductions and supervision around children are a must to be sure they and she are kept safe.
Roxi can be a little picky when making new dog friends. She is still learning dog manners and is usually a little cranky and awkward with other dogs when she first meets them. She tends to be possessive of her items (food, bones, treats etc) with other dogs, which can be considered rude dog behavior, especially to more dominant dogs. Roxi is unable to differentiate when playing versus when she feels something is trying to be taken from her. She can growl, bark and attempt to when another dog is coveting her highly valued item; but never around humans! She is slowly learning manners, however, she does resource guard both food and toys and that is why we think she would do best and be happiest if placed in a home as an only dog or with a very balanced, passive dog equal to her size (preferably female). Roxi is in need of a family willing to work with her on learning manners, and what is expected of her in her adoptive home and will need a family who is willing to spend extra time with her, be a firm leader and offer her patience and introduce her to slowly to proper dog behavior to help build her confidence.

Roxi’s foster family happily reports she is 99% potty trained. A regular and consistent schedule will help with her continued potty training success in her new home.
Roxi is fully crate trained although she doesn’t prefer her crate. She will peacefully nap in her crate when her foster family is not home. For her safety, we recommend a similar crating schedule for her when her family happens to be away from home as she does not know danger and is still learning what is expected of her inside the home. Roxi would love to share a bed at night with her adoptive family. She loves to cuddle under the covers and press against you for comfort and safety.

Medically, Roxi seems to be in great health! She has been spayed, updated on vaccinations/dewormings, microchipped, had a dental, heartworm tested, and has been given a clean bill of health by our veterinarian!
