Rover's Story
Meet Rover – a gentle giant with a tender heart 💙

Rover is a 10‑month‑old Great Dane who has already experienced more upheaval than any puppy should. Originally purchased from a puppy mill, he was sadly returned there months later when his family noticed his gait seemed a little off. We were grateful to get the call to help, and even more grateful to welcome Rover into our care.

With all the recent changes, Rover arrived understandably unsure of his new surroundings. But beneath that initial uncertainty is a truly gentle soul. He is a classic Great Dane: soft, sweet, and deeply receptive to affection. Rover leans into love once he realizes he’s safe, and you can almost see the relief wash over him when he’s given kind words and gentle pets.

Because his back legs looked a bit off, we sent Rover for X‑rays to make sure we understood what was going on. At this time, our veterinarian believes his gait may be related to growth, though it could also indicate potential future orthopedic issues. For now, there’s nothing that can be done medically—his growth plates (including his kneecaps) need time to close. The recommendation is to monitor him and repeat X‑rays once he’s fully grown if the issue continues.
The good news? Rover is currently walking well, very mobile, and enjoying life like a young dog should. He doesn’t let any of this slow him down and remains happy, affectionate, and eager to connect with his people.

Rover is looking for a patient, loving home that understands large‑breed puppies and is prepared to grow alongside him—whatever the future may hold. In return, he promises unwavering loyalty, a giant heart, and the kind of love only a Great Dane can give.

If you’re ready to offer Rover the stability and compassion he’s been missing, he just might be the gentle giant you’ve been waiting for.

He will come neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and 4dx tested.

Apply today at: www.phoenixanimalrescue.com
Adoption fee: $500

Phoenix Animal Rescue
Chester Springs, PA
Kennel License #5152
