Rou's Story
Meet Rou — A Resilient Tripod with a Gentle Heart

Rou (pronounced “Roo”) is a 2-year-old, 7.5 kg (~16.5 lb) neutered male who survived a hit-and-run accident in Korea. His injured front leg could not be saved, but he adapted beautifully and now runs, plays, and keeps up with other dogs with impressive balance and confidence.

He is sweet, sensitive, playful outdoors, and calm indoors. With patience and supportive structure, he settles into new environments within an hour and forms deep bonds with his people.

Rou is currently locally fostered and available for approved meet-and-greets.

Personality Overview

• Initially shy in new places, but warms up quickly
• Affectionate with women and bonds well with calm men
• Excellent with children — gentle, tolerant, and respectful
• Social with friendly, well-mannered dogs
• Enjoys quiet rest time in his crate or tucked under furniture

Dogs and Play: Rou thrives with social dogs and enjoys playdates, dog park visits, or daycare. He recently chewed through a harness during outdoor play, so durable gear (i.e., Ruffwear Webmaster Harness) and supervision are recommended.

Cats: Rou was previously struck by a cat, which caused fear. Although he does not display prey drive, homes without cats are recommended for his emotional comfort unless the resident cat is exceptionally calm and dog-experienced.

What He Loves

• Toys, antlers, wooden chew sticks, and dental chews
• His crate as his personal safe space
• Routine walks on familiar routes that help him build confidence

Daily Life and Training

• Walks well with minimal pulling
• Outdoor potty trained
• Needs repetitive exposure to comfortably potty in unfamiliar areas
• No motion sickness and rides calmly in the car
• Good with baths, brushing, ear cleaning, and nail care
• Can be startled by sudden movements or being picked up unexpectedly

Ideal Home

Rou will succeed in a home that:
• Offers patience, structure, and gentle leadership
• Enjoys daily walks and outdoor time
• Appreciates a loving companion who is playful outside but relaxed indoors
• Has dog-savvy children or adults who respect boundaries

A friendly resident dog is a plus but not required.

Why He Is Special

Rou is resilient, sensitive, and quietly joyful.
