Rosita's Story
Meet Rosita! Rosita is a 2.5-month-old, 3.26lbs, female Chihuahua. Rosita is a sweet little chichi baby in search of a special home! She is a tiny gal who will need to eat several times a day to ensure she doesn't become hypoglycemic. Rosita has severe ocular dysgenesis affecting both eyes. This has resulted in her eyes being smaller than normal and having severe abnormalities. She has the early start of cataracts in both eyes. Rosita has multiple and extensive scleral colobomas in the back of both eyes, resulting in significant compromise to her retina as well as abnormal tissue throughout the back sections of her eyes. Rosita she has impaired vision due to the severe abnormalities affecting the back of her eyes. As Rosita continues to grow, she is at risk for developing intraocular bleeding, retinal detachments, progression of her cataracts and inflammation. Long story short, it is possible she may need both eyes to be surgically removed at some point in her life. Her eyes are currently comfortable and we hope she will find her forever before loosing her vision completely.

The adoption fee is $250. This includes the spay, microchip, wellness bloodwork, fecal flotation, deworming and all core vaccines through puppyhood (as long as you return to us for vaccines).

If you are interested in adopting Rosita, please e-mail adoptions@thelovepetproject.org with "Rosita" in the subject.
