Rosie's Story
9/5/25:
Foster to Adopt Home Needed!

Rosie – A Special Little Soul Looking for Her Perfect Match

Breed: Pomeranian Mix
•Age: 6 Years Old
•Sex: Female (Spayed)
•Up to Date on Vaccines
•Needs to Be an Only Pet
• Still Working on Housebreaking

Rosie is a sweet, gentle 6-year-old Pomeranian mix with a heart full of love and a story that makes her truly one-of-a-kind. Found as a stray in Jefferson County and never claimed, Rosie has shown nothing but resilience and joy despite the challenges she’s faced.

After being evaluated by specialists at Cornell, it was determined that Rosie sustained an injury to the left side of her forebrain — either before birth, as a young puppy, or shortly afterward. While the exact cause may never be known, the good news is her condition is stable, non-progressive, and doesn't require medication or ongoing veterinary care. She's expected to live a full, happy life just like any other pup.

Rosie’s condition does come with one small quirk: she occasionally walks in circles, especially when she's excited or unsure. But don’t let that fool you — she’s one of the happiest girls you’ll ever meet! Her joyful personality shines through in everything she does, from snuggling up with her humans to exploring her surroundings with curiosity and a wagging tail.

Rosie thrives in a quiet, calm environment where she can feel safe and relaxed. While she’s friendly with other dogs, Rosie will do best as the only pet in the home — not because she doesn't get along with others, but because she deserves the undivided attention and peaceful atmosphere that helps her truly shine.

She’s still working on her housebreaking and will need a patient, understanding adopter who can help her stick to a consistent routine. With a little time and love, Rosie will repay you with endless affection and companionship.

Rosie has been through a lot, but she hasn’t let it dull her spirit. She’s ready to find a home that will cherish her for who she is — a uniquely wonderful dog who just wants to be loved.
Could you be the special person Rosie’s been waiting for?

Due to her current needs, foster to adopt requirements are as follows:

??Living within 80 miles of Adams, NY.
??Having previous/current pets in annually at a local veterinary office and up to date on vaccines as well as spay/neutered.
??Being able to bring her back to our vets office in Adams for care while fostered, if needed. After adoption, we recommend taking her to your current vet to be established.
??Rosie should be the only pet in the home since she prefers to be queen bee
??Homes with children over 14 years old should be ok due to her current size and medical needs.
??Willing to have current family members come to a meet and greet to meet the pet and be sure an acceptable match.
??Having time available to care for, socialize and start the training of a new pet.
?? Homes with a fenced yard, our preferred today to keep Rosie safe

An adoption donation of $450 is being asked to offset some of her medical care, if you choose to adopt, but fostering is free. She has had an extensive veterinary workup, is current on vaccines and flea/tick preventative, and has been spayed.

Please help us to continue helping those that knock on our doors!

To apply to foster to adopt: https://form.jotform.com/Meowchatz/pet-adoption-application-form

7/17/25:

Rosie, our 6 year Pomeranian mix that came from Jefferson County Dog Control is back in foster after returning from Cornell Veterinary Hospital. When we took Rosie in, we noticed that she would circle when walking, had some gait abnormalities and limited vision. Not having any prior history on her, we knew we had to get some answers prior to trying to find her a home.

Rosie went to Cornell on Thursday for a Neurology consult. They believed she had something going on in her forebrain (front of her brain) but would not be able to determine the extent of her illness without an MRI so Rosie stayed overnight for this additional testing to be done Friday.

Rosie's labwork was normal before her procedure and an MRI was performed. It revealed some bony changes within the top of her skull, some atrophy of the top of her brain and cystic structures within the brain. The Dr's believe all of this can be explained by a previous trauma possibly in the womb, as a young puppy (perhaps bitten by her mom) or even a bit later in life. The other possibility is that this is a birth defect that she was born with. Regardless, her condition seems to be stable (not progressing), she needs no continued care or medications and she should be able to live a normal lifespan.

Rosie will be spayed Tuesday then she will be looking for a very special foster or foster to adopt home. She will need an understanding family to help show her the ropes. She will need help with housebreaking and training, a secure yard, and a quiet, consistent home +/- other pets to keep her company. She is very loving and gentle, playful and does well with her routine. She promises not to eat too much in a new home, love lots and sneak her way in to your heart??

Rosie's current foster will not be available after the end of the month so she really needs a new home to go to so she doesn't have to go in to boarding. She will not do ok being kenneled all day with her circling so we really need to find her a place to go!

Due to her current size and special needs, the following prerequisites are being sought.

-Living within 80 miles of Adams, NY.
-Having previous/current pets in annually at a local veterinary office and up to date on vaccines as well as spay/neutered.
-Being able to bring her back to our vets office in Adams for continued vet care if needed prior to adoption. After adoption, we recommend taking her to your current vet to be established.
-Likesized dogs in the home and cats should be ok since she is acclimated to both in her current foster home.
-Homes with children over 10 years old should be ok due to her current special needs
-Willing to have current family members come to a meet and greet to meet the pet and be sure an acceptable match.
-Having time available to care for, socialize and start the training of a new pet.
-Homes with a fenced yard will be prioritized.

An adoption donation of $450 is being asked for each if you choose to adopt, but fostering is free. They will have their initial vet check, be current on vaccines and flea/tick preventative, and be spay/ neutered prior to adoption.

Please help us to continue helping those that knock on our doors!

To apply to foster to adopt: https://form.jotform.com/Meowchatz/pet-adoption-application-form

-------

Please fill out an adoption application with your inquiry if you would like a response back, within 72 hours for our dogs. We get multiple inquires each day with only an hour of "free time" to volunteer and answer them around our full-time jobs and family life...don't let your inquiry get passed by because of an incomplete application. Thanks in advance for your help!

Help our rescue by donating to our "Spay the momma fund". When adopting one of our babies, if each new family would contribute an extra $10 we can help out that babies mother by assisting with the cost of her spay. Help turn the momma into a pet rather than a breeding factory, donate today!

Adoptions limited to an 80 mile radius of Pulaski, NY and pets must be viewed in person by all family members prior to adoption; animals will not be shipped to their new homes.
