Rosetta pup/ Penny's Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. This 11-month-old gorgeous girl Chiweenie is the perfect mix of sweet, sassy, and snuggly — a true heart-melter in every way. She is a homebody who is content to be inside the house or in the yard.

Rosetta lives for her people. When you come home, she greets you like you’re the best thing that’s ever happened to her (because in her world, you are!). Expect happy wiggles, full-body joy, and endless kisses. She’s a champion 14 lb cuddler who adores belly rubs, snoozing under the covers, and soaking up every ounce of affection you’re willing to give. Although she is cautious around new people initially barking, wanting to protect the people she already loves and trusts.

Nail Trimming? Perfect queen politely agreeing to have them done.

Toys? She is obsessed with them! Rosie will get out one toy then another then another. She places them in dog beds or on sofas or special places on the floor. Sometimes it looks like a tornado hit the foster dog home.

Nighttime? She sleeps perfectly through the night either in bed with her human, curled up like the sweetest little loaf, or in her own dog next to the human bed where she has space to stretch out.

Co-worker? She will lay quietly on the office sofa while the foster mother is working on the computer, but when she sees her get up she also gets up following her ready to do what is next.

People? She likes hanging out with her foster human sister and visits her frequently in her bedroom wanting to be pet or nestle on a bed. Or she visits her foster dad in his office positioning herself in the empty recliner chair.

Rosetta wants to and enjoys going potties outside. But Rosetta was previously trained to go to the bathroom inside on pee pads (and praised for doing it). Therefore, she will sometimes look for and uses the pee pad if she needs to go right away. The foster family is working on teaching her to go outside all the time. She is making progress but will need an adopter that is patient and consistent to continue to teach her outside potties.

A home with a fence would be ideal for Rosetta so she can use the yard to go to the bathroom as she gains confidence to walk on a leash. Rosetta currently does not like the leash and does not understand its purpose because in her mind she thinks she can walk fine without being attached to one. The foster families have attempted to walk her on a leash, but because of what happened in her past she sometimes gets too scared to be outside the house (for example on a trial walk she heard neighborhood dogs barking from behind a fence and bolted back toward the foster house). And Rosetta does sometimes get carsick, so a low-travel lifestyle is better for her (or else get medicine for her).

4LD discovered that Rosetta needs to live in a house with at least one other dog. She is more comfortable having another animal around for companionship. When humans are away she positions herself near the other dog to sleep. Rosetta experiences some separation anxiety, so she’ll thrive in a home where someone is around most of the day — hopefully not spending no more than 4 hours alone. She does not like being in a crate and if left alone in a crate for too long she becomes somewhat reactive with barking and chewing on the wires.

Rosetta was found as a stray when she was three months old. Someone left her mother, her brother, her sister, and her in a crate on the side of a busy road. Luckily, 4 Lucky Dogs Rescue was contacted to help. The foster family worked with these shy, timid, scared dogs to get them to learn to trust humans again. Rosetta still does get nervous when meeting new people because she is unsure of their intentions then quickly warms up once she realizes they are friendly and good.

This sweet girl simply wants to feel safe, loved, and close to her people. In return, Rosetta will be your loyal little shadow, your snuggle buddy, and your daily dose of sunshine. If you’re looking for a deeply affectionate companion who just wants to be loved, Rosetta might be your perfect match.

The average lifespan for this breed of dog is 15 years; therefore, Rosetta’s adopter will need to be prepared to keep her for around 14 more years so she will not have to move to a different home again.

Rosetta’s adoption fee is $620. This dog comes microchipped, spayed, up to date on all necessary vaccines/rabies shots, and heartworm tested being negative. She is currently being fostered in the Plant City/Riverview Florida area.
