Rose's Story

Rose and three sisters were dumped on a rescuer's property in Texas. Thankfully they were dumped where someone would take care of them and get them into rescue.

Rose is a love bug and we love how her ears show such personality! A bit cautious with new things and loud noises, but when comfortable Rose is playful and adventurous. She loves to play with the resident Aussie in her foster home, gets along with all the dogs she meets, and doesn't mind cats. Rose can lead or follow and she enjoys playing ball and will be great at fetch. Smart and a quick learner, Rose knows crate, off, sit, down, and is working on leash training. Rose likes to lean into her people and offer her paw, then just melts into your lap. She loves belly rubs and pets and will be a very affectionate companion. Rose is a bit protective of her food around other dogs which we attribute to being undernourished before she came to rescue. Rose is crate trained, 90% potty trained, and sleeps well through the night.
Rose is being fostered in St Louis, MO.

4 months old, Rose weighs about 45-50 lbs- so she could be about 100 lbs when full grown. She is up to date on vaccines, up to date on heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, and microchipped. Rose will be adopted on a spay/neuter contract with adopter promising to spay at a later date and must provide vet records at that time.

Adoption Requirements
*A secure, visible fence
*A home visit
*A vet reference with at least a two year vet history

Adopters for Rose can be located in Missouri, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska, and Arkansas. We are able to help transport to those states.

Great Pyrenees Rescue of Missouri's Adoption Policy
Applicants must have a secure and visible fence and children in the home must be 12 or older. In order for your application to be approved, you must also pass a home check and a vet check which includes having at least a two year vet history. All of our dogs can be adopted in Missouri and surrounding states that we are currently able to transport to: Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Oklahoma, Nebraska and Arkansas. Our adoption fees are: Dogs 1 year and older: $400 Puppies under 1 year: $450 All of our rescued Pyrenees are fully vetted prior to adoption, spayed/neutered (dogs 1 year and older), microchipped, up-to-date on immunizations, and up-to-date on heartworm and flea/tick preventatives. The adoption process begins when you complete an online Adoption Application, naming either one or a few of our available dogs you are interested in adopting. Completing an application does not restrict you to a specific dog, nor does it obligate you to adopt. Once we have received your application and determined if you are a good match for the dog you are interested in, a representative from our adoption team will contact you to go over our process in its entirety. From there, we will put you in contact with the foster parent, so you may set up a meet and greet with the dog, in person when possible or video chat if that isn't an option. Before adopting, keep in mind that many of our dogs prior to being rescued and placed in foster homes have never lived inside a home. Some dogs may never have been walked on a leash, socialized, house-trained or spent time with other animals. Our fosters work with these dogs on many of these issues to prepare them for their furever homes, but these dogs will still need patience and understanding as they learn to adapt when they come to you. Rescued dogs need adopters who will not give up on them if they have accidents in the house, pull on the leash, dig in the yard, or act nervous or frightened. An adoption will be successful only if the adopter is committed to seeing the dog through the adjustment period. The rewards are the unconditional love and loyalty of a wonderful companion, and the satisfaction of knowing you have given a rescued dog a better life. If at any time after adoption, you decide you cannot keep the pet for any reason, the dog must be returned to Great Pyrenees Rescue of Missouri.
