Rose's Story

Rose is a loving, people-focused puppy who was found abandoned as part of a litter in Borger, Texas. She is currently fostered in the Amarillo, Texas area. She is estimated to be about six months old, born around July 25, 2025, and currently weighs approximately 40 pounds. She appears to be a large breed mix, possibly Labrador Retriever, Shar Pei, Mastiff, or bully-type mix.

Rose is incredibly affectionate and will often leave her food to seek attention from people. For a puppy her age, she has a moderate to low energy level and enjoys toys of all kinds. She does well with other dogs and kids, though older children are recommended due to her size. She has not been around cats. Rose is highly trainable with treats and is not a barker.

Rose still needs help learning the basics of home life. She will require continued house training, crate training, and guidance with general household manners. She has started leash training and has had limited crate exposure, but consistency will be key. She is not suitable for an outdoor-only living situation.

Rose is available through a foster-to-adopt program. Approved adopters will foster her while beginning basic training and routines. Thanks to a generous donor, the adoption fee is waived, and adopters will receive $250 after the first week and an additional $250 after the second week to help with training and care expenses. A rescue team member will check in weekly during this time.

Adoption application (copy and paste into your browser)
https://airtable.com/appklteyg5w2e0fmu/shrY8RxQc1KxQYCuv

Scout's Street Smart Rescue's Adoption Policy
Adopters must be 21+ years old and have proper identification. ALL members of the household must agree on the adoption. We do NOT allow adoptions to be surprises for others. Out of state adoptions are ALLOWED. We currently adopt to homes located in PA, NY, MD, DE, NJ, MA, CT, RI, OH, NH, OR, WA, SC, and FL. We will also adopt to homes located within 200-250 miles from Amarillo, TX 79101, and may make exceptions on a case-by-case basis for longer distances or other states. Potential adopters must submit an initial application that will be followed up by a phone interview and home check. Potential adopters must be able to prove that property management permits pets if renting or prove homeownership. We call two personal non-family references (ie. friends, neighbors or co-workers) that are to be listed on the application. If there are any current pets in the home, we will call your Veterinarian as well to ensure all pets are up to date on state required vaccines and are spayed/neutered. Potential adopter must provide basic care for the life of the animal. An adoption contract must be thoroughly read, completed, and signed by the adopter before the adoption is complete. The adoption process could range anywhere from a few hours, up to a week. We do NOT hold dogs/puppies.
